I love how Bette embraced this film and promoted the hell out of it, even if it meant singing a pop song about Baby Jane on TV. She was a consummate pro.
She was a real professional actor. She performed her role to the best of her ability and promoted it the best she could be cause she was clearly proud of her work, and rightfully so!
@@Luvie1980lol if you think she is singing better here than britney or gaga can then you’re either letting preconceived opinions cloud your judgement or have barely listened to their music
So great to see the general backstory, before and after to "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane". I've loved the movie since I first saw it about 5 years ago. This is clip is a treat because I bought "Letter To Daddy" off iTunes from the movie back when I fell in love with it. Love that the "Feud" show has me looking up the real clips that take place in the show. I actually would enjoy an album with Bette's voice, haha.
Did she ever dream that another Top Actress is gonna imitate this . Motion Pictures never fail to blow my mind, even if thats just my World. Bette Davis is Iconic
I think it's better for older actresses now, but not by much. No one ever tells a man to give up his passion, yet old actresses are expected to develop amnesia and fade away....still.
And there is no doubt that both leads will get Emmy nominations for this show. It's a twin tours-de-force with a great script, sensitively directed. I was expecting a catfight, not a clever examination of women's plight in Hollywood.
I can't help but wonder what miss Davis must have been feeling during this performance. Susan Sarandon recreates this beautifully in Feud: Bette and Joan
Yes, she did. She was witty and sharp and honest -- didn't suffer fools gladly. She was brave and dignified in person and at work. Which is why watching her do this sad bit of film promotion is distressing.
This is surreal, I had no idea Bette Davis did this....crazy!!!! Sarandon did a good job, but only a chain smoker could truly mimic the Better Davis voice.
God bless her soul that she did what she had to to promote her film. Little did she know that there would be a classic 80’s song recorded in her name some 20+ years later. A real legend this woman is.
Had to see if this really happened after seeing Susan Sarandon do it on Feud. I'm really loving this show. And I think Susan and Jessica are doing a great job.
Im impressed with Susan Sarandons work as Bette Davis! What a FLAWLESS performance shes delivering! Obviously Jessica Lange doesnt stay behind. Both are goddesses!
I never knew this music had lyrics. It was in the movie without lyrics. At the beginning of the scene where Blanche writes the letter she throws out the window. And at the beach in Malibu. I know it sounds strange, but I think Susan Sarandan does it better.
@John Martin I don't know about that. She's done a lot of comedy. She did Mammia Mia, which is a pretty campy musical. She's joked a lot on talk shows. A Few years ago, she badly played the accordion on Conan's Tonight show. She made a strange guest appearance on Lisa Kudrow's web series, Web Therapy. Anyway, what does Meryl Streep have to do with this?
At first I thought this was so corny because I'm thinking this is promo for the movie at the time essentially. How freaking corny is this? Lol But this was 1962. Corn was in.
Of course we're here because of Susan Sarandon. It's a great impersonation, and more: it's a respectful characterization and not a caricature. If anything, Davis comes across as slightly rawer: there's an edge in her voice and face that Sarandon smooths out a bit. It's hard to believe that Susan is twenty years older than Davis was in this performance. I guess it's because Bette really did smoke all those cigarettes, and you cannot possibly imitate the sound and skin of a twenty-a-day, twenty-year habit.
I think she really must have lost it for a bit thinking she had to try something new to live with the times? It really confuses me how she did music.. I just don’t get the purpose of it lol
who else is here because of the AMAZING feud show?
Me
Ditto.
Nope.. I've been watching the original movie for years!!
It's a must see!!!!
Me
Me aswell
Bette definitely had a sense of humor. Particularly about herself.
I love how Bette embraced this film and promoted the hell out of it, even if it meant singing a pop song about Baby Jane on TV. She was a consummate pro.
Cory Henson 👏🏻
She was a real professional actor. She performed her role to the best of her ability and promoted it the best she could be cause she was clearly proud of her work, and rightfully so!
Total Class all the way, PERIOD!!!!!
I am watching this part now on Feud. She was great.
Amazed at how Sarandon nails her take on Bette. Right down to the hand gestures and ever present cigarette.
Suz Valentino ~ Me too this season is a shocker makes me think if there's others whom have same conflicts !!! 😜
Hahahaa! me too!.
Me too lol
Suz Valentino Sarandon is fucking brilliant at playing this. Bitch did her research!
I think it's very brave for someone to be seen by millions and sing when singing isn't their strong point.
hipsterdoofus1026 the genius of Bette Davis was she just let it all hang out. She took risks in her career which is why she has endured for so long.
She did it all and then went to television and was superb as well PERIOD!!!!!
Ms. Davis is the definition of movie star!
OF COURSE Bette did this. How fun to see Susan recreate it.
Can you imagine a star of today having the guts to do this??
ClareNViv nooo
Exactly
Lol. Yeah It's called Madonna.
Took the words right out of my mouth!!1🤣🤣😆
No one could touch this lady's ability anymore not for 40 years!!!!!
She could not sing for crap but I just love the raspiness of her voice.
lavvy2585 Shit. It's okay to say that word.
Henry Jackson Not everyone wants to say it.
She sings better than a lot of "artists" today. Cough cough Britney Spears, Jlo, Selena Gomez. Bette was such a talent.
@@jinx-1 cough cough Gaga, Billie eillish
@@Luvie1980lol if you think she is singing better here than britney or gaga can then you’re either letting preconceived opinions cloud your judgement or have barely listened to their music
she really deserved that third oscar !
Sarandon deserves the Emmy for mimicking this.
No she doesn't.
Yes, yes she does.
Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange are doing a fantastic job on Feud. I love it!
I agree!😍
I'm in the middle of Feud episode 4 and I couldn't resist to look for this.
One of the greatest female entertainers of all time she could do everything extremely well !!!!!
I had to look this up to make sure that that part on Feud was real...
I love her voice.
VMonee81 special and beautiful voice :)
I'm here because of Feud. Absolutely stunning performances from Susan and Jesicca. Saw Susan do this and had to see the real thing.
feud got me here. wow. thank you for archives and youtube.
Mavin Reyes youtube is god
Whose here because of Bette herself?😜 Love her voice
So great to see the general backstory, before and after to "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane". I've loved the movie since I first saw it about 5 years ago. just watched Feud and needed to see this myself
Bette Davis ...Forever...❤❤
I just watched Susan Sarandon recreate this memorable performance on The Andy Williams Show on 'Feud'-absolutely brilliant 😉😘
We need her back.....
I love her
Bette Davis could do anything! R.I.P..
this is worth a million dollars to me love love love it.
Fabulous. Just fabulous!
Susan Sarandon recreated this PERFECTLY in Feud!
Fantastic!
Did she ever dream that another Top Actress is gonna imitate this . Motion Pictures never fail to blow my mind, even if thats just my World. Bette Davis is Iconic
will always love Bette Davis..maybe the greatest actress ever
Feud has made me fall in love with Bette davis the person. Now I want to see all those movies I never saw before.
2269tah Just do it! You will not regret :)
Such high campery lol love it 😀
such a beauty
I just Adore her.
I'm crying!!
Same thing, watching the show, she's spot on
Susan Sarandon recreates this in this weeks episode of feud on Sunday
88craigv I loved it!
I would have love to have seen Joan Crawford seeing this on tv she probably was laughing fit to be tide saying OH GOD the woman has lost it.
Anthony Williams That's "tied."
I never saw this before. Thanks

WE THINK SHE'S FABULOUS!
I just love her
Wow, this is so how you don't normally think of or picture Bette Davis.
i have to say that Andy's William image is so 2017!!!
FANTASTIC!!!
THere's only one Bette Davis!
Patti De Leon you damn right!!!!!!
She is immortal ❤️ Bette
I can't help but wonder what miss Davis must have been feeling during this performance. Susan Sarandon recreates this beautifully in Feud: Bette and Joan
I wonder too. How did Ms. Davis allow herself to get talked into this? It's a little heartbreaking.
Gatto Nero If you ever watched her interview Ms. Davis had a great personality
OMG she's like a little girl herself!
Whatever happened to talent like Bette Davis and Joan Crawford? Where did these bigger than life characters go?
God bless her soul that she did what she had to to promote her film. Little did she know that there would be a classic 80’s song recorded in her name some 20+ years later. A real legend this woman is.
1:45 I know its probably just shadows, but it looks like the applause makes her look younger.
Biggest pro star hollywood has ever seen
Feud! Tks Ryan Murphy!
I think after Madonna, Bette has become my second most beloved icon now
Had to see if this really happened after seeing Susan Sarandon do it on Feud. I'm really loving this show. And I think Susan and Jessica are doing a great job.
She sings better than I ever do , at least you can hear a song . The voice , oh well .
This was fun to watch … “Capote VS The Swans” HULU
Love it.
Just watched FEUD, had to see the real version, Sarandon nailed it
Susan deserves an Oscar for this.
Had to see this clip after watching this weeks episode of Feud, thought Susan Sarandon nailed it!
Im impressed with Susan Sarandons work as Bette Davis! What a FLAWLESS performance shes delivering! Obviously Jessica Lange doesnt stay behind. Both are goddesses!
Catherine Zeta Jones was terrific as Olivia DeHavilland in Feud as well.
Rumor has it that Joan Crawford was in the audience booing her
Love Bette..Susan Sarandon nails this...loving fued....
People these days don't understand the sarcasm in this... She was totally taking the piss
Song written by Frank DeVol and Lukas Heller.
I never knew this music had lyrics. It was in the movie without lyrics. At the beginning of the scene where Blanche writes the letter she throws out the window. And at the beach in Malibu. I know it sounds strange, but I think Susan Sarandan does it better.
Hulu brought here
feud: bette and joan brought me here.😎
She’s only 54 here! I swear they aged 10x faster back then
Severe alcoholism and smoking
Feud, episode 4
feuddddd
Oh sheeeeet! It's real! Wow. :) LOL
Joan Crawfords ghost must have 5 CZcams accounts
Oh dear...
Meryl Streep takes herself too seriously for something like this.
Oh, Streep is such a Davis fan. She would do it in a nutshell if she was given the chance to mimic Bette.
Everybody loves Meryl Streep. +DegrassiTop40 I think certain "people" over here are attacking her for political reasons. Politics is nuts.
Georgi Mihailov Well that's what she does best-- mimic.
Georgi Mihailov I'm not one who attacks her politics (too easy); I'm attacking (if that's the right word) her acting.
At first I thought this was so corny because I'm thinking this is promo for the movie at the time essentially. How freaking corny is this? Lol But this was 1962. Corn was in.
Go see Leonard Nimoy singing Bilbo after this...lol
Back when Bette and Joan were struggling to make a buck doing anything that they could find
I'm sure Bette hated having to do this
Cmon do you think Bette Davis ever did anything she didn’t WANT to do??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ooooooh my.
YIKES!!!!!
Of course we're here because of Susan Sarandon.
It's a great impersonation, and more: it's a respectful characterization and not a caricature. If anything, Davis comes across as slightly rawer: there's an edge in her voice and face that Sarandon smooths out a bit.

She looks so done tbh 💀💀

Robbed of the Oscar
So bad its good category!
Bette was better, sorry Susan.
Who thinks the roles should have been reversed?
She taught she could sing.
Oh God, what possessed you, Bette, I feel so embarrassed for you.
Nah, it's fun. She had a sense of humour
This is like the "Stars Are Blind" of the 60s. Very famous, awful singing.
Cringeworthy
Why did she sing this? She's horrible. If she can sing, so can I!
