- Phsar Leu Thom Tmey, commonly known as the New Big Market, is one of the largest and busiest traditional markets in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Located in the heart of the city, the marketplace attracts both locals and tourists with its vibrant atmosphere and diverse range of products.
The market features multiple sections, each with its own unique selection of goods. The (wet market) food section consists of rows of fresh produce, meat, and seafood, while the clothing section showcases an array of traditional Khmer clothing and modern fashion. Visitors can also find a variety of jewelry, handicrafts, and souvenirs in the souvenir section.
Phsar Leu Thom Tmey caters to all kinds of shoppers, with prices ranging from inexpensive to moderate. Buyers can negotiate prices with vendors, making it a great opportunity to haggle for a good deal.
The market is a melting pot of Cambodian culture, with vendors and buyers from different provinces and ethnic groups. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local way of life, observe traditional practices, and interact with locals.
Phsar Leu Thom Tmey is open daily from early in the morning until late at night. Its location in the city center makes it easily accessible by foot, tuk-tuk, or moto. Visiting Phsar Leu Thom Tmey is a must-do experience for anyone looking to explore Siem Reap's rich culture and heritage.

Thank you so much 😀 That's awesome!
I have no idea what most of that stuff is. I would need a local culinary person to give me a tour and a lesson. -?- I don't eat bugs - sorry. -- An incredible selection and so much food !
hahaha!!! Its easy to get a guide and very affordable!!! 😁👍What!!! You don't eat bugs!!! 😂🤣Fair enough 😊Have a great day!!
Hi Debbie. A bit late but i just want to let you know that at @18:44 that was not a gourd. That was an unripe papaya. And it wasn't a breadful, it was an unripe jackfruits. The reason she grated them so is because those are ingredients in a soup called Kor Ko Soup. It's a soup with a lot of vegetables and there are many varieties, but to make Kor Ko soup you need to have one or two ingredients that bring a little bitterness to the soup.
Thanks so much for the info!😁 That is fantastic!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me!! I am trying to learn as much as I can. We grow jackfruit and papaya so it is very exciting to learn this!! 🥰🇰🇭 Have a great day!!!
@@vintagefoodfarm You're welcome. I've heard you talked about the food you've grown on your own farm and how you want to incorporate recipes from around South East Asia, so I thought it might be useful to know why some vegetables are sold at the market already chopped like those.
It is EXACTLY what I want!!!! 🥰🙏Thank you so much!!! 😁
Welcome to Cambodia 🇰🇭

Basil and Mint grow everywhere in Asia. There shouldn't any reference to Thai or Vietnamese. They should be called basil or just mint. They grow everywhere in Asia ( probably the world). They are from mother nature. They don't invent them.
Everything has a different name in different countries😊After this we did a khmer cooking class to learn the Khmer names 😁It was just out first point of reference because that is the name in Australia😊Honestly didn't mean to offend. Have great day and apart from that I hope you enjoy the videos🥰🇰🇭
How long are you gonna stay in Cambodia 🇰🇭?
Hi Thyda!!! Love your chanel! We have just got back and we have a heaps more videos coming up 😊We will come and see you next time!!
@@vintagefoodfarm Ohh that’s cool
Hello. Gonna be moving to siem reap Jan 2025. Question....when the street vendors make their soups, what kind of water do they use?
Hello!!! I am so jealous!!! 😁It varies depending on the vendor, restaurant or hotel but when the soup has been cooked for like 12 hours it is fine. If you are worried about water it is more the herbs that they add at the end and water they have been washed in. You can ask them to dip the herbs in boiling water or soup if you are concerned😁Cambodia is pretty good now days. We haven't been sick at all the last few times and we have eaten ice, herbs, salad, the lot🥰Of coarse every one is different and we may be used to the bugs🥰🥰🥰
@@vintagefoodfarm Thank you so much.
OMG… that 🐷’s head looks like it’s smiling
They always do!!! 😁🐷
