    Good review! Lots of good points. Why couldn't they give you a new hull or any other new bits? Why couldn't they at least give you their type 5B DS and not those early ones? Why can't they make a new kit? So many questions.... I also liked the tool clamp feature :)

    Love your presentation style, you and Will Pattison are the two go to guys for modelling vids. The Jagdpanzer not only has the pointy nose, that they have worked around before, but the fuel filler caps on the left hull side are relocated. So they may have the hull for the much more numerous late version with 3 return rollers. Still not good though.

    Great detailed review! Well done! I was actually thinking about buying this kit....now that I see how lack luster it is for it's high price tag, I will skip it.

    I'm not sure why dragon has to resort to all these cost saving measures. They charge just as much for their kits as any other manufacturer charges for a newly-tooled kit

    I’d argue a lot of modelers look forward to making modifications such as the return rollers when you get it right it’s quite rewarding... great videos btw!

      I agree, some people really are up for the challenge. I review things from the point of view of a newer modeler that isn't aware of such heavy modification. But admittedly i was a little too hard on Dragon in a few of these reviews.

    Just ordered this kit from ebay for $40 plus shipping. I consider that a bargain considering the issues, but they're not deal breakers for me anyway. Maybe I will get some zimmeritt to add to it.
    Thanks for the review...

    I've got the ARAB 6 day war version only bought it because has well everything in box to make really any the L48 is the kit but has all the L70 sprues and other parts with beautiful zim so good to if wanted to do something different or what I've been doing using it as a parts kit for other's! Still have everything to build an l48 version in box but have sprues Zimmerited from the jagdpanzer L48 in the box it's the same lower tub on the square casemate I like this rounded sided one think I'll get one! Good review 👍 PS there's only the one position pols or spare antennas in this box on the L70 sprue! Not sure if they were antennas or position pols caus they were on the early Stugs aswell thay went across the back engine cover then they were deleted

  • @EMTBAFV
    @EMTBAFV Před 4 lety

    Well you made a good job of it for what you've had to modify yourself, but you are rite about the seemingly attitude about why change it when just let us do it our selves! I'm looking to get this kit but I think now I'll be looking into more reviews hopefully I won't need to parse about to much with it and the correct parts are there haha

    • @AdamMann3D

      I much more prefer the Jagdpanzer IV L70 kits that this was based on. If you're not married to the idea of an A-0 that would be my suggestion.

    I was wondering if you have bought any kits from dragon that include both ds and magic tracks. I just received my second kit that came with both. It is the Panther G with steel wheels (6370). The first kit was the Jagdpanther G2. Both of these kits are rereleased versions with the boxes showing that it comes with only ds tracks and the website didn't say anything about magic tracks either. But on the front of the box (on top of the shrink wrap, not directly on the box) they put a sticker that says "includes magic tracks". All of my dragon kits come from the same source. Have you heard anything about these kits with the magic track stickers? It would be nice to know which kits they do this to. As of right now, it seems like a lottery.

    Great review Adam really enjoy them I built the L/48 with zimmerit which was a great kit except for the hack and slash on the breach this one looks like a Jack the Ripper kit.

    • @traffic800
      @traffic800 Před 7 lety

      That kit also had major problems with the barrel and mantlet. Since they didn't want to make a new mantlet for the l/48 barrel, they made the barrel really thick. And if you wanted to get an aftermarket barrel with more appropriate thickness, you also needed to replace the mantlet.

    I just built Dragons Stug IV Last Production. They wanted me to drill holes. And then, there was nothing going in there. I decided to put Friul spare tracks on top of these holes. But I'm not happy with the situation.

    As someone who has been away from the hobby for some fifty years, but in his retirement years (and with the advice of his doctor) decided to return to the hobby, I have viewed with interest many of your " After Action Reports. I find it amazing just how far and how complex the hobby has become. There is also the start up expense which have sky rocketed with the advent of air brushes, different types of glue , paint and washes required for the desired effect on the finished product. This is in addition to many manufacturers issuing the same version with quality and build issues across the entire range. Could you perhaps provide an idea where one should begin so that in the end one does not end up with a great lump of unrecognizable plastic who's greatest achievement is in the box art.

      @@AdamMann3D You might as well say I'm starting from ground zero, my last experience being a 1/48 scale Panther with the rubber tracks in the late '60s. So you could say I know absolutely nothing about the hobby currently. Not even which kits to stay away from. I will say that I could be considered a rivet counter as I have little tolerance for products that don't deliver. Thanks

    Yet again Dragon throw sprues from different kits together, issue some botched instructions to make the Frankenstein and call it a new kit. Gave up buying Dragon for this very reason and have never looked back.

  • @redhorse7458
    @redhorse7458 Před 6 lety +1

    Over time I've reached the point where I won't even bother with Dragon kits because of the issue with having to modify parts that Dragon is too lazy to do themselves. I recently worked on an older 1/72 Dragon Challenger II tank and it had much the same issues. There were parts that had to be modified and I even had to fabricate a small part to cover a gap left because one of the modifications failed to cover it when fit to the tank. The tracks were a joke and had to be glued in place with a substantial gap behind the dust skirts that couldn't be seen. Essentially they were just far too short. Recovery cables were too short and a nightmare to put on. I refuse to buy their kits anymore as I find I spend too much time figuring out ways to make their substandard parts or modifications fit and look proper. 'They just are not good models, especially for the money. About all I would use them for is kit bashing.

      Personally, I'll take all the extra parts a manufacturer wants to put in the box. Love adding stuff to my spares/kit-bashing bin. Now if I'm getting charged a bunch of money for those parts that's a different thing.

    It looks like somebody got the bright idea to sabotage the kit from within Dragon... I have to wonder now how many Deathcamp Laborers they used to make the molds. I have often been disappointed with dragon kits but never like this kit... glad you posted it so I don't buy it.
