Letter writing is truly a wonderful act. It is really nice to see people these days taking time out of their busy schedules to write letters to their loved ones. As it was said in Violet Evergarden ,it is indeed true that postmen don't deliver letters, they deliver happiness and that's why " No letter that could be sent deserves to go undelivered. "

I've been severely depressed and burnt-out for a long time. I'm 3 semesters away from getting my master's degree, and go back on 7 days, but I've barely been able to get out of bed in a month.
Watching this video and seeing ruby always motivates me. Thank you ruby for being candid about things and sharing your optimism with the world. It helps more than you know
The book at 14:00 has old Dutch on the cover, it either says: 'On the fauna of the jungle, experiences and observations from a doctor in equatorial Africa' , but the first sentence could also mean "to the son of the jungle". I couldn't tell because of the logo, but the fauna makes more sense obviously. (just in case you want to know haha)

You're right, people can use a bit of a pick me up in January. After the holiday season, January is always a bit of a downer. Almost like the best part of winter is over and now there's just spring to look forward to. 😅

You made me buy letter writing supplies to start writing letters to people. I just don't really know how to start and what to write.... maybe you can do a letter writing video someday :D
I am also waiting for my order from Pumpkin Productivity. I have to collect it on Monday and pay my customs fee. I am so excited to get the master to do list and the daily planner!
Maybe you could start on valentine's day and write letters to all your friends and family wishing them a happy valentine's. That way you would already have a good reason to send the letters, and the letters wouldn't have to be super long.
I think it is easier to start with postcards, as you don't have that much space to fill up.
When I write letters it's mostly what I would write in a diary, the fun part is, that it often takes some time for the others to respond and you can see how much you change in the meantime - at least that's my experience.
P.S. if you are looking for a penpal I would be very happy to exchange letters (or postcards ;) )with you.

The Afternoon Tea 🫖 ☕️ ornament is absolutely adorable. I recently took A for a surprise Afternoon Tea at my favourite regional tea house and she really loved it. They make some light, super soft, very warm scones with handmade clotted cream and they are just such a perfect little mouthful of lusciousness. They also have over 40 teas from all over the world, the staff is extraordinarily friendly and the shop has been owned and run by the same family since 1998. Your Afternoon Tea ornament took me back there on an otherwise cold, dark and rainy eve.
We hope your return to uni will be smooth and the term will bring unexpected but wonderful surprises.

I had the piles of books next to the bed problem, too! I got a shallow box and put wheels on it. Now I can slide it out when I am in bed to put books on, and slide it under the bed to be tidy.

That notebook was originally a dutch book. The title says "Aan den zoom van het oerwoud" which translates to "At the border of the jungle". The subtitle means "experiences and notes from a doctor in equatorial Africa". I thought you or your friend might find it interesting to know :)

This might sound like a very silly question, but where is that lovely box of matches from? Also, I've really been enjoying your videos! I graduated from my Masters in autumn 2020 (in Gothic Literature and Film), and I currently do independent research as I cannot afford a PhD just yet (still considered an international students despite living here in Scotland for 6 years!). It's nice to have the atmosphere of studying and academia that come from your videos. Not to mention all the letter writing! My husband bought me an antique writing slope for my birthday last year, and I absolutely adore writing letters on it! It feels so lush!
