Chad,in case you are not aware-you will kill your turbocharger in your diesel(or gas engine)by not idling it for a minimum of 3 minutes before shutting down.Turbos are cooled by the oil from the pan-and when that turbo is hot-the housing can be up to 800 degrees.Shutting your engine off like that will cause the oil to stop flowing-which is cooling it,and it’ll cook.The term is called coking and it’s real.Letting your engine idle for 3-5 minutes before shutdown will keep cooler oil flowing from the oilpan through the turbo which will cool the housing,and give your turbo a long life.

Our Vanagons have MOJO. They were designed for outdoor recreation with windows all around the vehicle offering great viewing from inside the van. The sprinters were designed originally for cargo applications, and while they have many capabilities that far exceed a Vanagon, the sprinter will never have the mojo that a Vanagon has.
Why are the VW trips the best. Even after all this time the VW is still the best. Great van Chad great vid, I do like the sprinter set up but the VW is different. Thanks for sharing mate.

I have to agree with the other commenters about the Westphalia. There’s a lot of sprinter content out there but when you break out the old VW it just sucks me in.👍and during the cooking segment I had to stop the video and make a sandwich
Great to see you and the diesel transplant Vanagon. The under carriage shots looks like the diesel tilt install gives more ground clearance than the subie or stock 2.1?? Looking forward to seeing your Burning Man footage and really hope you gave the Vanagon a “good washing”…..inside and out to clear out all that “alkaline corrosive dust” 😳.

Always amazed at the amount of unique shots and editing that you do (e.g. the shot of the old barn then the shot from inside the barn as the van drive across. That's 5-10 minutes of effort for a 15 second shot. Still, great video and really helps us live vicariously through you. The meal looked great!
I was going to comment at least it's not raining, but then when you said where you were headed, we know how that ended. Did you get stuck in the mud? We've had a really wet Summer in the UK, hardly been out in the van, hate the rain, hunkering down for days gets boring. So does attending events where everyone gets stuck in the mud and it takes hours to leave! The last few years we have seemed to get our Moorland Fires in the Spring, at least a wet Summer meant we didn't get any more fires so far this year.
