What's my story? An engineer, in love with his job, started teaching on the side. Got lucky. Impacted 1000s of lives. Had to finally leave his job to increase the impact surface area. Raised $5M funding to fix education. Is learning day and day about startups and building a valuable product.
How is it going? A decade of engineering helps in systems thinking and product building. Learning about Strategy, Marketing, People Management, and Finance on the go.
What am I building? Today, 25 million Indians prepare for government job entrance exams. They do it for years together. The probability of success is less than 1% but they still do it. Why? For the lack of a structured alternative to launch their white-collar career. I am building Invact to bridge this gap.
How? Follow me to know, it's a long story. I am telling it in parts every day.

After completing engineering, found out that corporate needs/requirements are totally different than what we were taught. Maybe it will help if there were two types of syllabus, one for those who want jobs in certain industry, one for those who are going for research/higher studies. Funny to see that people getting better jobs from 3rd party courses while colleges provide bare minimum paying jobs even after paying lakhs in education.

    ४.Hume projects based learning करणी चाहिए..
    हमे किताबोंका theory knowledge नहीं चाहिए..
    ५.हमे money management सिखना चाहिए, वो भी किसी ऐसे आदमी से जीसने खुद ने लाईफ मे success पायी ही...

You have identified the correct problem in the educational system of India. The professors have only bookish knowledge, fail to give real life examples, and only talk about percentage and notes. How to survive in IT, how work actually happens, updated technologies, nobody bothers to talk about it. It's pathetic that we are paying a huge amount to such an educational system to gain nothing, not even education. The teachers have less knowledge about a programming language and expect us to be the best programmer when they fail to clear our doubts, no teacher is innovative. Thank you for addressing such an important issue.

6:21 my idea to solve the Indian education system is ki we can start a company/startup where we will take 12th passout students and teach them actual skills like webdev, data science etc with life lessons like how to manage taxes, how ti invest, and all things that school dosent teach. I just need some people who have that knowledge to start as I have plan and I want to execute it as fast as I can kyuki mene bohot se skill Courses dekhe h jisne 1-2 saal m skills sikhate h lekin unko jo college passout h ya padh rahe h which means unhone apni life toh pehle hi barbad karli h paise daal diye h and skills kuch nahi Sikhi. And ese startup bohot bohot kan h jo 12th passout ko skills sikha rahe ho bade scale par. And jab inhe skills sikhaege toh jada problem nahi hogi as they no nothing or very little about the field so acche se samaj aaega.

I have been watching your videos and you explain things really well. According to me, there needs to be more collaboration between corporates and colleges. Guest lectures of ppl from renowned startups and companies need to be conducted in colleges more, especially in those clgs where students are spoonfed the whole syllabus. There has to be a balance between what is required in companies and what is the college or schools are offering.

Great Video Tanay, I agree with you that the quality of education in our country is really deteriorating day by day. Anyone with a land and money is opening a college these days just to milk money while providing mediocre services.
But there is an other side of the coin which I have experienced as I was a student of such college. I am an MBA who has worked with corporates in the past. All of these are my experiences during my MBA degree. There is a huge gape between the corporate culture and college atmosphere. I have noticed my batchmates, sach toh ye hain ki bache kuch sikhna hi nahi chahte, unhe koi value create nahi karni aur bas ye chahiye ki ghar paisa aata rahe. Either their parents pushed them into such courses/degrees because unki shadi nahi hogi warna or they have accepted ki bhai kuch nahi hona humara toh. Mere kaafi batchmates ko pata tha ki humara college ghatiya hain, yet they never tried themselves to make some effort during placements, to research about profiles/ companies and use some references to get a job. Resume dekh lo inka toh iss desh ke youth se vishwaas uth jaaye sabka. Students didn’t even learned how to write a professional mail let alone anything else and mind you these are MBA graduates!!
On the other hand, parents ki bhi galti hain. When you know ke tumhara bacha academically strong nahi hain, then why you are trying to push him/her into IITs/IIMs and medical colleges. It’s not the end of the world, there are many skills that he/she can learn to become employable for corporates or self employed in that sense.
Another problem is that our middle class society doesn’t respect physically skilled workers like carpanters, barbers, caterers, chefs, housekeepers, drivers, painters, bartenders, waiters, plumbers, mechanics, tailors, electricians and makeup artists. When you don’t respect these jobs, you don’t aspire to do them and as a result, you miss a big opportunity to make money. No offence but on the contrary, most of these physically skilled self employed workers earn more than an average corporate employee.
I certainly feel this middle class mentality of “agar mera bacha corporate mein nahi hain yaa government employee nahi hai toh uski zindagi barbaad hain” needs to end before anything else.

I took engineering and very soon i realise that it was a wrong decision by me.
This i a small advice from my side to other who are thinking of pursuing college degree.
Please think twice before taking any decision check your degree, its syllabus, its relevance, etc.

Ya phir ek sahe mein practical aur rational decision hai? Dusraa students ko apni personality and psychology ko zyada samjh na hoga. Aapko job ya skill lene sey practical cheez main paisa mill raha hai lekin Psychologically ka kya. Humarey system mein sirf ek SSB Services selection Board hee hai jo ki kisi candidate ki Psychology ko test karti hai. Lekin iss test ko apney aap he karkey hum apney aap ko bhe behtar bana saktey hai. For example apko fear kyu haikisi cheez ko seekney mein. Past mein aisa kuch hua hai ya apney koi complexity develope kare hee hogi? Inn cheezo mein bhe dhyan dena chaheye aur apney aapko develope karna chaheye

Maybe you should consider a career in TED Talks beside programming. Keep inspiring people with your words.😀😀😀😀 love the way you describe this issue

There are so many people but only a fixed number of tier 1,tier 2 colleges, high paying job.
So people shouldnt consider themselves a failure at all because it is not there fault completety.

In my class there are 74 students out of which only 4-5 of them have a solid job securing skill baki sab bass maze maze me a gaye hai so first of all student ko hi khud samajhna hoga ki bass ache college me admission lena is not the point khud ke skills ke upar v kam karna padega

I see that third tier colleges try to keep students busy may it be attendance, meaning less guest speakers, when you try to do something good , out of the box, something creative or skill developement per say , exams for the sake of it, assignments just to burn through countless pages, fuck up your mental health by straight up harrasing in the name of discipline and attendance.
I think these 3 steps will be most viable
1.remove the attendance criteria(Third tier colleges specifically)
2.rather than bullshit practical records or assignments- every term should contain a project(a simple one of your choice related to the subject which should be unique and somewhat real world applicable)
3.promotion of work tools like (NOTION,etc) that are being used in the corporate world as per the current trend.
I am a student at a tier 3 college I have lost all hope from my college.
    Its a government university(for namesake)
If someone is reading this comment please don't take admission in CSVTU (UTD),save your parent's hard earned money.
