Teaching Kannada Literature and folkloristic since from 1990 onwards. Field of specialization is folkloristic - Ethnic studies and Tulu Folklore. Published a Research book on “Folklore of Mugera Caste” which is a reference book to scholars, Researchers and Students. Also published 15 research articles on folklore in reputed Research journals and Books and also edited 32 books.
Awarded common wealth fellowship in 2001 and worked for post doctoral research on „Ethic Identity is folkloristics‟ in SOAS, University of London.
Successfully guided to eight Ph.D students and now eight candidate are working for their Ph.D Degree. Participated in five International workshop on Folkloristics which was conducted jointly by ford foundation and Regional Resources centre, Udupi and also attended fifteen National level workshops and conferences. More than fifty research papers presented National level
seminars. Had the membership of Karnataka Tulu sahitya Academy and Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Bangalore. Worked as a Director of Publication division of Mangalore University, Coordinator of SC/ST Cell, Chairman of SVP Institute of Kannada Studies, Dean of Arts Faculty, Syndicate Member Academic Council Member, Chairman of PG and UG Board of Studies,
Chairman of PG Board of Examinations. Now, the Co-ordinator of shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Tulu Chair and Co-ordinator for Kannada Development Project.
