  • On hot days, fun outdoor activities can be harder to find. But for hikers, Tumalo Falls, 14 miles from Bend, Oregon has it all. The first 3.8 miles of the trail follows Tumalo Creek, which is really a series of cascading water falls. Take along a water filter, and you can replenish your water bottle as you go.
The hike can be as strenuous or easy as you want, from hiking the entire 6.8 mile loop, to a quick up and back from the trailhead.

Hello from NE Oregon. Pretty hot here too at 500 MLS and always prepare before hiking in the summer. Usually head to the blue mountains apposed to heat stroke hiking.

Leon, it was great to meet you and Naga the other day! I went home and told my wife it was the high point of my day. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received your book and your kind note was humbling. I've only had a chance to skim "Bushcraft Basics" but it looks like a lot of great information. I look forward to diving in for a good read this weekend. Thanks so much for the book and for sharing your knowledge. Chris

Thank you very much for the kind words - seems like the outdoors types always find each other! That book was a tiny token of how much I appreciate what you first responders do to keep the rest of us safe.
