I first shot when I was seven, it was a 22 long rifle with a scope on it then after that a ar15 then a 9mm and now the gun I got go deer hunting with my 243 savage.

Being a progun family, soon as my daughter showed interest in guns we started teaching her gun saftey. Once I felt comfortable that she understood it wasn't a toy I went and bought her a .22 and we go to the range together.
She absolutely does NOT have free access to any firearm. Only time she has access is when we are together at the range and she is under close supervision.
Point is, if you and your child feel they can handle a gun and they can demonstrate gun Saftey, it's a great bonding experience. Saftey for everyone is on the top of the list when it comes to firearms.

I was a youth rifle instructor for boy scouts. It was the one merit badge everyone wanted, they loved it.
The NRA supplied all the ammo and rifles. It was a good few summers.
They supplied 12 gauge bird shot too.
Think I probably shot something of 1000 clays over each summer for free.
Best part. I didn't even have to clean the guns that weren't mine.

Reminds me of my days in the bowling league. I was SO bad when I started. Eventually someone took me to the side and taught me how to bowl. I got so much better I ended up breaking 200 a couple times. We won 1st place probably because of the handicapping system and me. And I got a patch for a 215 game and a most improved player trophy on top of my first place trophy. When I told my parents I scored a 216, they said, quote "No you didn't.". Lol.
I’m 12 and my parents took me to the shooting range for the first time last year. Rifle is my favorite so I might also join a group like that.

Oh man this brought back some memories of my own. I hit the target frame myself a lot when I started too. Only ours were steel so soon as you hit it, shrapnel would shed the targets which made it impossible to score. I went from 120 avg score at 12 to 377 at age 16. Those rich sh!+s shooting Anchutz rifles couldnt have been more embarrassed.
Ah the great Anchutz, I gotta say about shooting Anschutz at aspirins , and lighting matches is fun, for a while, but it got kinda boring to me real fast. Very nice guns, nicer still in the right hands. Super expensive but worth it for the quality.

This video reminds me of my experience in Highschool. I shot 4 position, indoor, 50 ft rifle too.....with a club gun!.....lol I couldn't afford the good ammo either.....no Ely for me. I still shot respectably, took 3rd in the region behind our local master and another ringer
