    I’m literally at the same stage with a ‘73 I chiseled all the tar off but used a wire wheel on a 4 1/2 grinder to clean the chassis. The floor pans were toast though so I have two new ones on the way. Keep the videos coming. 👍🏻

      Common to have to replace them for sure, luckily mine were in decent shape and I didn't have to replace them

    I saw a guy take dry ice pellets and put it in the floorboards for 10-15 min thus freezing the sound deadner and then he scooped up the dry ice and moved it to the other side and then he proceeded to break off the sound deadner in huge chunks after it froze. thus leaving clean bare metal floors.. I couldnt believe how efficient this was, just thought id pass along this tip...

    Great work. Your honest about your mistakes. I did the same thing with the tape and seam sealer, but took the tape off after it dried! 😔

    I'm gonna find a portable car tent like that for my project. I want to blast my own frame chassis and eventually the body and do my own painting. A heavy duty degreaser and tar remover will help remove the tar coating before a good pressure washing.

      @bottomupbuilds  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Go for it! I got my tent at harbor freight, I'm not sure if that was mentioned in the video.

      @@bottomupbuilds Yeah I found it after I looked it up. Might get2, 1 for the blasting and then 1 for painting. Or set up a diy paint booth but that def seems legit for blasting.

      It's been a while, but it looks like I used Speedokote DTM primer/sealer in gray. Yes, I hope to get back to it sooner than later!

      @@bottomupbuilds Awesome! Thank you for that info. I’m excited for future videos, you do a great job of explaining your process and I appreciate your attention to detail, which I try to emulate in my own project!

      If you have a Harbor Freight near you, this is the one. www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-17-ft-portable-car-canopy-62860.html?campaignid=12192885310&adsetid=115861552486&product=62860&store=3194&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlZixBhCoARIsAIC745CnT8EKwUssNp3Tf32fqILGaO_k1beRTIJG3ScOEwQQHTUC9sRjaEQaAhSCEALw_wcB

    Hi! What air compressor does I need to have that results? And What media ripe you use? Thank you

      I am using the Harbor Freight 110 lb sand blaster with coal slag media from Tractor Supply, medium grit is all it says on the bag. I have a Bel Aire 80 gallon 5 hp two-stage compressor, pressure set to, I think about 100 psi. Even though the compressor is beefy compared to home garage standards, it was still under powered for the job. I was able to get a minute or 2 of blasting before I had to wait for it to catch back up.

    • @bottomupbuilds
      @bottomupbuilds  Před rokem +2

      SpeedoKote SMR-207/211 - Hot Rod Black Paint, Black Satin 2K Urethane, SMR-207 4:1 mix Single Stage Gallon kit with activator included.
      I wish I could report on how is held up, but the car has not left the garage since I painted that, so I have no real world review to give.
