  • Did you know that SD Fire-Rescue firefighters pay for their own meals? The crew of SDFD Lincoln Park Station 12 takes you along as they visit their local grocery store to purchase food for lunch and dinner.

Geez. Between 1998-2008 when I worked for SDFD, I was constantly confronted in the grocery store by concerned citizens wondering why I was shopping on-duty and asking me what “their money was making me for dinner.” Sorry guys that you are still having to fight this battle. Unfortunately the overly conservative ‘concerned citizens’ of San Diego don’t watch CZcams or even know what it is. Thanks for the good video though! Keep up the good work! JW

That makes me so angry, those people need to get a clue. They should spend an entire shift at a fire station and see what its like to be confined to that station or your assigned apparatus for 24 hours straight. Then maybe they'd understand why firefighters are at the store on shift, and understand that if they get a call while shopping they have to drop what they're doing and leave. Don't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes.

I have always seen firefighters in north county and wondered what they were getting that everyone would eat. My fired had siblings and told me how his mom cooked them all something different, cause of dislikes. I feel like $80 is just enough meat for more than one person.
