if i need to copy it from the opriginal bin file then why should i need the exe file? i can simply use the bin file. what i need is the bin file directly from exe file. i dont have the original bin file.
If the original backup bin file is corrupted, why are you copying info from that to the rom file, which is clean from the manufacturer? Shouldn't you be removing the excess data from the bin or just using the rom directly to reflash?
So how exaclty you extract a the bios from an exe if you dont have another .bin to compare....you just showed us how to extract using another bin file...
Is there any way to extract a working BIOS bin file without the original backup to work from? I have a ThinkCentre M90a Gen 3 All in one where the BIOS chip was wiped by the previous owner who wanted to load a custom boot splash logo and ended up wiping the BIOS chip and now the machine is bricked.
aclu7212_32.exe I have a lenovo z50-75 80ec and the update of the lenovo page gives me this exe file that I cannot decrypt with anything. Do you have any idea what to do with this file?
My pc is bricked when i changed the thermal paste. (forgot to plug off the battery). And pc repairman said that I need a file for flashing bios. Can we use this bin file for flashing? I got it from updater exe.
Hi Yes you can flash it to your bios, but make sure you make a backup bin file of your original bios. Also compare the size of the bin file from EXE with the backup file I wish you all the best
Hi everytime I do extract it says "cannot open file as archive" (I've had 7-Zip for quite some time). So I'm not able to get the .rom or .bin file (whatever is produced in my case) out of it. How can I resolve this?
@obora07 hey, to my best memory, and just to acknowledge your question unlike what alot of ppl do on here, ignore, especially for important issues: I was but unfortunately it wasn't thru all of this. I had to send my corrupted bios and the .exe file from HP's site to someone on one of these forum sites for BIOS extraction (sounds shady I know but they oddly helped without any money, if it helps I said repeatedly I wanted to buy their BIOS extractor product and will just do it myself they still did it using a HEXEditor which I also used to identify the line used that contains the BIOS). Anyways, once they sent the repaired .bin file back, I had to power cycle my laptop, empty it fully of its "juice," loaded the repaird BIOS back on with the clamp device, and it was working again. Only difference my laptop always has the first screen boot of "Manfacturer Unlocked Mode" then the HP logo. That's all from my memory of how I got it resolved.

Just read the bios Chip with the epromm programmer and then safe the file. Then you have a bin file which you can use to create the New one.
what if the exe isn't self-extracting

You need to find a dump bin file for your specific motherboard and use it as a reference to build one from exe file
