  • Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure are fantastic places along the Italian Riviera. It is so beautiful here and I cannot recommend this region of Italy enough! The coastline just keeps getting more beautiful as I work my way along the coast!
    Next stop, Portofino!
The Bus between the two towns is the 707: it leaves roughly every 20 minutes - from Rapallo outside of the train station and from Santa Margherita Ligure outside of the Tourist Office.
Take the train between the two towns and grab tickets here: www.trenitalia.com/en.html (the app is much better, so download that and keep your tickets with you on your phone).

My grandparents went on holiday back in the 50s and to this day my family still goes to the same place. The town is called Cavi Borgo (it’s 30min from Rapallo) Almost every year, it feels like coming home when I’m there. We know generations and my son is the fourth generation of my family who is loving it there.
Cavi Borgo is not touristy and that makes it the best place!
And yes that whole area is beautiful!
I’m from the Netherlands by they way😁

STONES versus SAND ! Completely agree. Favorite stony beaches: Loreto, Baja Sur ( once a year with friends who live there) the Hippie Beach east of Akrotiri, Southern end of Thera/Santorini; and now, apparently, where YOU are. This was great. I send your videos to EVERYONE as THE way to travel. Light and breezy, and learn some language everywhere. Grazie mille.

Just a little thing, the place between Santa Margherita and Rapallo is not called "Bagni Pagana" but "San Michele di Pagana" ;-)
Have you been to Paraggi? Half way between Santa Margherita and Portofino!

If you use public transport then it is better to have not very big bag for travelling. It depends on preference, I hate sand, "unfortunately" where I live (Rome) it's almost only sand (there are some places with rocks but are not so nice), not to mention the crowdedness.
However, there is plenty of choice in Italy, there are the super-equipped sandy beaches on the Adriatic Riviera (Riccione, Rimini etc), the (always sandy) more "wild" beaches going down to south (I recommend Salento and Gargano in Puglia, which also have rocks).
Instead in the part of the Tyrrhenian Sea (that in video), there are the (sandy) beaches in Tuscany, from Viareggio and Forte Dei Marmi (cities in some ways similar to Riccione and Rimini, although with less young people, I dare say are more for families), to go south then to Lazio, Campania and Calabria (all regions with sand but also with rocks, as the famous Amalfi Coast).
Of course we cannot forget the islands, the two big (Sardinia and Sicily, which have wonderful places for all tastes) and all the small islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, my recommendation being Ponza (Lazio), of course Ischia and the wonderful Capri (best to go there in the low season, June or September), last but no least the Aeolian and the Egadi (in Sicily).
Ok, finished my publicity to my country (I don't even know why I wrote this long comment with my laughable English honestly), congratulations on the video, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Italy (we have many flaws but the country is gorgeous), ciao.

It's a pity though that, like you said, "Riviera" makes one think about the French Riviera (that the French call côte d'Azur) rather than about "The Riviera", in Liguria (that the French themselves call this way. source: czcams.com/video/02YhfJZiHEA/video.html, this guy makes really good videos to learn French and more).
Also because "the Riviera" is split in riviera di Levante and di Ponente, and they are quite different from one another.

Exactly!!!! There is not pagana, but a village so called San Michele of Pagana. No Maurizio? Then there is St Moritz in Switzerland. No mychele? There is the tower of Pagana's San Michele. J have just to say another important thing to Laura. In Rapallo there is a beautiful river. Yes, yes yes, that is an amazing river. First to get the harbour, you have to manage on the river. In few words: three little steps in the angle: the tobacco angle. In any case Laura is very fast and she is magically on the top of Portofino. What about that old song J love Portofino?
