    Thanks for sharing this video! Next month I will also head for Thailand but for Chiang Mai. Same to you, I need to transfer in Incheon Airport T2. These days I'm kind of confused how to transfer there. And now, I'm clear about this. Your video is really helpful!

    Re-post in case others had same question about luggage.
    Context: I'm traveling on Air Canada and long Layover in Incheon and swapping airlines to Asiana airlines and was wondering if I'd need to go out and claim my baggage to check in the next airline.
    Air Canada rep said if the transfer is international then it'll go direct to the final destination. *whew*
    FYI if the transfer was domestic then you would have to go out and recheck your bags.

    Hey, thanks for the video. I doubt you'll swe fhis in time but i have a flight from Manchester England to Amsterdam to ICN and then i have a seperate ticket flight from ICN to Nagoya Japan. Does this mean I have ro gi through arrivals and not transfers? Because i technically have to collext my baggage and re check in?
    It's my first solo flight and transfer/long flight so im worried. Also only have 1h45 minutes from arrving to departure 😅do you think itll take long to get my bags,find the check in, and check in again?

      If you're flying the same airline both times, you might just have to transfer. If you've been told you need to collect and recheck your baggage, then yes you'll have to allocate some time. It's a tiny airport, so you should be fine in either case. There are a lot of staff walking around helping travelers in the hallways. Seek their help, they'll expedite your process.

    • @CalifornianWayfarer
      @CalifornianWayfarer  Před rokem

      If you're leaving the airside of the airport (to go out) you will need a transit visa or KETA based on your country of citizenship. Look up the rules on legal websites.

    • @CalifornianWayfarer
      @CalifornianWayfarer  Před rokem

      Should be fine. Your airline rep will likely meet you with a sign as you exit the jetway, and take you in a buggy to security and to your gate. Rule of thumb -- if an airline has sold you an itinerary, they have estimated that you have enough time to make it.

    Hi, thanks for the great video. Would you happen to know how luggage claim works if we are transferring from Air Canada to Asiana Airlines from the ICN Airport?

    • @CalifornianWayfarer
      @CalifornianWayfarer  Před rokem +1

      Unless these airlines have interline agreements meant to make the transition of luggage ownership easier, you will need to claim luggage and re-check. It appears these airlines have a partnership. You must call one or both airlines to verify if your baggage will be checked through to the next airline.

    • @simw4273
      @simw4273 Před rokem

      @Californian Wayfarer I'll give them a shout. Thanks for looking into that for me. I was more curious if you saw a baggage pickup area during the transit route or if they would need to go out, check them back in and then reenter. I'll probably try and ask air canada though! Thanks again.

    • @CalifornianWayfarer
      @CalifornianWayfarer  Před rokem

      @simw4273 I have never seen a baggage claim/pickup area just for transfers for any airline. So if a transfer passenger has to go downstairs to claim luggage, they'll first need to clear customs and immigration, which would pose a problem for many passengers as they might need a transit visa if their country is not allowed visa free entry to the country where they are transferring. I made a video on Tokyo Narita to Haneda transfer where it became clear from viewer comments that a transit visa would be required if the passenger's home nation is not allowed visa free entry into Japan. If the transfer were within the same airport, no transit visa would be required. But Narita to Haneda necessitates leaving the airport, taking a special bus and going into the country to get to the other airport.

    • @CalifornianWayfarer
      @CalifornianWayfarer  Před rokem +1

      @simw4273 this is good news, you can post this as a standalone comment so viewers can see it immediately. I'm curious whether your reservation does not already state the luggage transfer procedure. Check your online reservation and see if it's mentioned. I'll be surprised if every passenger has to call Air Canada to check regarding luggage for an itinerary such as yours.
