Hope you have an Uncle, Grandad or whomever as a father figure in your life. Lost my Dad 16yrs ago and my Mum 5yrs ago and still miss them both so much. They were good people. Mum and Dad were not very tactile i.e. touchy / feely kind of people and didn't tell us kids that they loved us very often but by their actions we all knew we were loved. We always knew if things got bad that we would be welcomed back at home though our Parents expected us all to work hard and do well. They did their best for all of us and you can't ask for more than that. Remember that when you become a father.

I'm so envious of all of you who are posting the memories you've had with your fathers. My father was killed in a car accident when I was 3 years old in 1990 and I have zero recollection of him. I wish I had known him. I wish I knew what kind of laugh he had, what his humour and jokes were like, what kind of friends he kept. All I have to keep his memory alive is two photos sent to me by his brother who lives halfway across the world. You should all count yourselves lucky that you had (or can still have) good experiences and memories with your fathers.

My dad passed away 6 days ago. Can’t believe it’s already almost been a week since I found out. I’m 20 and just started my military career in the AF, and was halfway across the world at my first duty station overseas when I got the news.

There are signs about the end of the world, people should give their life to Christ so they can be raptured with us(lift up into heaven) and then sadly a tribulation will happen on earth and the anti Christ will sat on a temple and people will take his mark, those who do not take his mark (mark of the beast) will not be a able to buy or sell, and will be killed, those who accepted the mark will be condemned forever
but to us who accepted Christ, we'll be mark with the holy spirit of God. It's better to die for God since he died on the cross for us
then the 2nd coming of Christ will happen and he will defeat the evil and Reign forever

My dad actually almost went down the same way as Luther Vandross. My dad has had multiple strokes. I remember seeing my dad in a coma and thought for a second that this is it. My dad is going to die. I spent every time seeing him in hospital with my brother and my mom in the chapel praying and talking to God. I remember when I first said I’m going down to the chapel to pray my brother looked at me like I was crazy. Why not pray in here where dad is? I told him I can’t stand seeing my dad like this or else I’m going to cry. My dad is still alive today. He is the definition of a trooper. I feel for all of those who lost their father. This song reminds of all the memories of my dad. R.I.P Luther Vandross ❤️🙏✝️🪦. Your song is so beautiful. He died before he could preform this song live according to an interview with Richard Marx because they both worked on this song together.

My real dad disowned me when I was 10 years old. He just walked up to me and said I'm not your dad anymore and your not my son and walked away forever. But another man who was a nobody to me at the time slowly over the years sort of adopted me and he became my father and my best friend. I feel your pain my dad died in a car wreck to in March of 68 and I was born April of 68 I never met my father but every body said I look just like him but it's not the same as actually seeing him. They tell me every time I look in the mirror u see him. And I tell them yeah right 😭
My brother also died in a car accident on Christmas. He was only 18 years old. My father is still alive, but he has anger issues and he can be really abusive and hurt me a lot. I keep forgiving him and giving him chance after chance, but he just keeps chasing me away no matter how hard I try. This time I feel like I may have to give up, knowing he's going to die some day without us ever really getting on with each other.

My sweet little girl just loved to spin round and round in her power wheelchair with her daddy. The Wheelchair dance is what she called it.
On December 14th 2023....
We lost our hero.
The light of our family.
The big guy as we called him.
The one that made everything right in our family.
Daddy had an amazing smile, laugh and sense of humor.
To us It seems like the world should just stop but,
for some reason it just keeps going.
Now although we know in our hearts that our Sweet Daddy.....
Is no longer in pain,
His eyes can now see again,
He now can walk again,
He now can eat again,
He now can laugh again and
He now is whole again.
BUT NOW...
I have so much confusion within my heart , because I was the one that prayed for God to heal him. I asked God to help him, I was the one that prayed for God to make him better again. But I didn't realize when I was asking God for these things, Was I really asking God to just take him to heaven?
I love my sweet husband so much that if letting him go was the only way that God could help him to get better than yes... I am willing to go through this pain. My heart is definitely broken, more like a crushed feeling I would say.
BUT as for our sweet daughter this is just something her sweet innocent soul just cannot process.
It's as if her heart,
her world,
her life as she knew it has been put into a dryer cycle .
It has gone round and round tumbling , hitting and bouncing from wall to wall of the dryer.
Now that the dryer cycle has stop we can't just open the door take out what's left of our lives and neatly fold it up and put what's left back on the shelf ready to start all over again.
It's kind of like folding a pair of socks but, one is missing.
You searched and searched for that matching sock but no matter where you look you cannot find it.
This song reminds me of both of them doing the wheelchair dance. The smiling faces and the little giggles as they would just twirl round and round you would want the dance to never end.
Deep down in my heart and my soul I know that my husband is doing amazing right now he's with his maker. He's with the one that loves him more than anyone in the world.
BUT...
If anyone that reads this could just say a small little prayer for my sweet little girl to help ease her sweet little heart I would be forever grateful.
And I as well pray for anyone that is going through a deep loss themselves. I pray that the Lord eases your pain.

Hunter- Glad to hear u respect and appreciate ur dad. I felt the same way. Covid took my dad in dec 2020. Had to say goodbye over FaceTime using a cheap old iPad. It was awful. To not be there to hold his hand and watch him drift off was awful. I'm still in shock and still expect him to walk through the door. So, make sure u appreciate every day bc it can all be gone in a ny second!
My father is living & healthy, but I cry my eyes out every time I hear this song. Knowing I'll lose him someday is unbearable. My father is not an emotional man outwardly, but when his father died at the age of 104, he cried when he read the eulogy that I wrote. To see him show emotion in front of family, friends & strangers made me so proud. That is true strength!!!

I'm losing my Father to COVID-19. He is 84 years old. Very active and healthy, ride 10 mile bike everyday. Just 2 weeks ago, we talked about going on a vacation as soon as Covid is over. The worst part of is that I cannot even see him. He is dying by himself as we speak with strangers because they dont allow family members and I live far away...
