    New nurse and new to the ICU, and I truly thank GOD for your videos. I’m scared and anxious EVERY time I walk into work, but your videos really give me the knowledge and confidence to push though the day. Thanks so much!

      @@rockinthemtees1628 still scared, still anxious, but it’s gotten a lot better. I get more confident in my practice the more I learn. I talk to older nurses for guidance and reassurance. I hike for stress relief. Self care is essential. I don’t know everything, but I have a great team for support.

      Hey Kandy n kid. I am now new to nursing too and new to the ICU and I’m the same way right now. I feel just lost and anxious every time I work. How has your nursing experience been so far.

    I just wanted to say thank you for holding your baby on screen. I’m an getting a port put in and just found out today. I have been sitting here crying and being scared watching videos. But as soon as I started this video, I started feeling much calmer with her presence and your sweet dog.

      Tabitha, I'm so sorry to hear you're going to have to get one. But it will make things so, so much easier to get you what you need. That baby is now 6 years old, which is wild! Prayerful everything goes so, so smoothly.

      I passed my Critical Care exam last month with high 80s due to your detail information on this video. I highly motivate and encourage you to continue.. you definitely help me during my last semester and pass one difficult course in the nursing program. Almost at the finish line. Thank you Kati

    Graduating in 1 month and have never heard to lay a patient flat while removing the central line. I have never seen a nurse do this at clinical either. I want to be a safe nurse, thx! I will remember this.

    • @freshrn
      @freshrn  Před 3 lety +1

      Next time you're at clinical, see if you can look at the "discontinuing central lines" policy - I bet it's part of that! It's something that can get so easily overlooked.

    Hey Kati, been watching quite a few of your videos. I think the content is great and I have really appreciated all the wisdom you have shared. I have just finished nursing school, did my preceptorship in an ICU, and now will be starting full time in a telemetry unit. Maybe you have given up on making videos but I think you really know your stuff. They could be improved in terms of production value however what you have said has only helped in my practice.

      Thanks! I'm definitely working on it. That video is pretty old and I've been able to get better equipment, although I've been pouring all of my time and resources into the courses I've been making (freshrn.teachable.com). Hoping to really step up my CZcams game this year!

    Central line how long they stay

    • @freshrn
      @freshrn  Před 2 lety +1

      That depends on various factors, but if it's a PICC line they can stay in place for months. However, we want to D/C them as early as possible because of infection risk. You'll find physicians want to get rid of them as soon as they're not 100% necessary.
