  • Here's another vehicle my friend Mike from Always Evolving Pythons owns and it's another cool one. We shot his 21 window VW bus a while back and here's his 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pick up truck that is an old school hot rod all day.
    Come along for a walk through and a ride with us...

    It is not a 55. It has a split windshield. The bed sides are not flat. It has the wrong grill and No wing windows. Looks like a 1949. I absolutely love this truck. If it was a early 55 model I would still like it very much.

      You’re right. It was our mistake. It’s a ‘51. Sorry about that

    Ok, fact check , it’s a pre 1955 pu, the split windshield and the lack of vent windows puts it pre 51. Nice truck

    There is definitely something to be said for a great oldschool “blue collar” build. Seeing so many over the top restomods with a ls swap, 4 link rear etc. this is a breath of fresh air lol

    Very cool , but that's not a 55 , first series 55 did not have a split front windshield. 1953 maybe , but very cool truck ...!

    The red wheels are really old school and about perfect with the bullet centers. A/C, yep. I like coils over air but that's just me. Cool toy

    not a 55.They have a single piece windshield and a different grill.They also have different bed sides.

  • @HardcoreMotors
    @HardcoreMotors Před 4 lety +2

    Very cool truck.
    My suggestions for the make over:
    - Remove the flames and go with a very simplistic red and white pinstripe down the sides.
    - Dark glossy wooden rear deck.
    - Stay away from that air ride nonsense.

    That is not a 55 my friend that could only be 50-53. I would say 51 from the video. The 55-57 is a completely different front end and only came with a small window or big window not a 5 window.

    And it's a 5 window cab too! Those are hard to find.
    Yeah, those flames really clash. They've got to go.
    My list - Swap a Tremec 5 speed into it, Scat buckets and a custom centre console painted to match the dash & rims.
    As for suspension? I don't know. For cost? Coilovers. Bit more? Airbag it.

    Saw the truck and had to check it out, if he is going to stay with the red wheels I would keep the truck black. Maybe a gloss finish but if they decide to Change up the wheels I say go maroon or burgundy with a matte finish. Accent it with bronze or white, a set of white steelies with a chrome center cap and those white wall tires. It would have a retro flare to it, an odd ball look that you can't seem to hate 🤔. I feel like if he adds bags he might do a radical build later, something like the 3100 F1 truck.

  • @NTKUSTOMSDOTCOM
    @NTKUSTOMSDOTCOM Před 5 lety

    Sounds good ! has the traditional Block hunger headers that are pretty much the go to for SBC's in most HOTROD Chassis configurations. Rear discs, adj. Proportioning valve, bigger master cylinder. Dropped spindles for a smoother ride height up front &
    I would definitely put a standard parallel 4 link design & a mini C notch on that sucker to smooth out the bounces, WOW it brings me back ! AccuAir ride control or a good set of fully adjustable coil overs & that old truck & it will be riding really nice. Carburetors are cool but a modern fuel injection system from fast that Bolts on to that existing intake manifold would be choice mpg, hp, & a good piece of mind. Serpentine belt system, a RestomodAir Air conditioning is a must, it will help you to keep from sweating your face off, LoL
    Love the videos guys keep em coming,
    Great hotrod feel to this one.

    Cool truck! A neighbour of mine had one for sale a few years ago but I couldn't pull the trigger on it. It wasn't as nice as this one, it had a lot of work to be done.
    I think the flames need work (the granit countertop is hilarious) not only color/texture but also the geometry of the flames are off for me. Can´t really tell what it is. Agree on the rear lights.
    I'd pick up coilovers and ditch the bags idea. The rest is fine.

    Truck looks nice! My only knock on 3100's is the turn signals look horrible set in the grill. Grill would look much cleaner if they were repositioned under the headlights with a smaller circular light. YMMV

  • @andrewipp426
    @andrewipp426 Před 4 lety

    You are really good on camera, your knowledge, enthusiasm and passion shows through. I have a question Shawn; once you and the owner discuss the rebuild plan do you deal with getting all the work completed as the project supervisor, based on the owner’s game plan. I need to come out there and see the California car scene.
    Great truck love the red Steele’s with wide whites and spider caps, it fits. Keep the flat primer look, I would either redo the flames ghosted or real old school red yellow white faded and and I would keep the small block and give it a once over, maybe add fuel injection, definitely AC it seems to have a lot of suspension bounce, I would upgrade to 4wheel discs and coil over rear.
    Keep the videos coming !

    Round taillights on the back. The stone flames SUCK, I think you should go all flat black but do some pinstriping in white on the hood and fenders but light 👌
    I wouldn't bag it, just lower the springs or lower extending the lips of the fenders

Looks sweet and I do like the interior.....It is Cool , "Slick" to be honest. As for as the ride leave it alone. It is OLD SCHOOL, 50-60s style......

      You are correct that it's not a '55 (either version). However...the Chevy Advance Design trucks ran from '47 (began halfway through the year) through the first half of '55, which are referred to as First Series '55. The First Series '55 was basically a continuation of the '54, other than having different side hood emblems and being the first year for an open driveline in GM trucks (instead of the torque tube design).
