I’d like to thank you for a fantastic tour of Slit woods, and would also like to say that my Mam & Dad had me and my brother up Slit woods countless times as children while camping at West Gate⛺️, these memories I’ll never forget, I’ve just turned 60 🙈 and now taking my grandchildren up this weekend for the first time to share the excitement and experience like your good self. Thanks again, who knows….. I might bump into yous in the Hair & Hounds, like you said a brilliant bar and a very comfortable place for good food and Real Ale 🍺👍🏻👍🏻

Hi, thank you so much for watching. It really is a remarkable place so beautiful and peaceful. It nice to hear your childhood memories for visiting there. I'm sure your grandchildren will have a wonderful time and make many memories. I think once you visit you take a part of it with you in your heart. If you see us in the Hare & Hounds make sure you say hello plus we would love to hear some of your memories of your childhood camping in the dale. Thanks for watching and commenting it's something we truly appreciate. Atb, Garry, & Claire.

What a brilliant walk and a place I have been too before but only a couple of times, last time I did a walk from Westgate to Rookhope, so really enjoyed the walk out with you. Slit Woods looked great as did the waterfall and a dip on a warm summers day sounds mint! I can understand why you have been going back for the last 20 years and not a place I would get sick of visiting either. Nice place to stop for lunch and a nice energy burst before your climb to the top and that pond. I need to do more walking up there. Take care, cheers Alan

Hi Alan as you know its a beautiful place we love it there.we have never done the Rookhope walk yet we had done a few others that through the Slittwoods and back into Westgate. One thing with this lockdown we are really missing our caravan and all our friends in Westgate. Once all this is over and we have some normality if your up that way give us a shout we could join you on a walk and finish with a drink in the pub. 👍👍👍

My gran and granda had a caravan in westgate, I used to go up that route every weekend at 8yo on my own and never seen a soul. Went back up there a few month ago with the pooch after 25+ yr and it was packed! Still beautiful but wished it was still my own little retreat.

Hi, David, you must have some amazing memories from your time in Westgate with your grandparents.
The slitt woods are stunning we have a caravan in Westgate, too and have enjoyed many a walk. I think with the way this year has turned out the Slitt woods have been unusually busy more so earlier in the summer. Hopefully, your next visit will be less busy it is such a magical place. Thanks for watching we really appreciate it. Check out some of our at her videos you may see other places in the area you recognise 👍👍

Just beside where you stopped for a brew there's a Geocache behind one of the rocks, it's got a little book in that you can sign and date, goes back over 10 years, people from all over the world. Great video anyway mate!

Love that place. Its been years since i have been there. I used to take the kids from our local school to weardale house and Slitt used to be part of the 10 mile walk. The shaft was still there then.It was just fenced off. Cheers for sharing. Cheers Kev.
