Thank you sir for taking the time to produce such fine and interesting content.
I am a veteran of the Vietnam conflict. I am fighting cancer now and it is much more difficult than going against an enemy I could see or smell or hear.
I can say that I had the privilege to operate in the Middle East with South African gentlemen in the Baghdad area ani have never been associated with a finer group of men. I realize these men were from a different part of Africa but many parallels can be drawn between central and South Africa.
Thank you again for taking your time sir. It is much appreciated here.

At 13:20 - "People went out of their way to do the best that they could in order that civilization might survive in that part of the world". Heartbreaking words because civilization did not survive. Even in South Africa, civilization is on it's last legs right now.

Sir, tour videos continue to intrigue, educate, and amaze me - I cannot begin to express my full appreciation !
It always pains me to know that my country failed miserably to assist you in your time of need. I am ashamed that our politicians were unable to muster common sense and understand the situation more compassionately and render appropriate aid. Had they done so, Rhodesia could have survived, and Africa and indeed the world would have been a better place. A lost opportunity indeed.
    Thank you for your service.

To those who asked for this training aide to be scanned, I believe there is a copy available on pdf-archive.com or there was several years ago. Stanford University library has an original copy and some time ago you could check if there were copies available to purchase. Please note that Sgt Welland produced this as part of the training programme for the RR and not the RLI. As part of the RLI from 1975 to end 1979 I had never ever seen this until I was shown a copy by an ex Rhodie I met in Palmerston North, New Zealand aboiut 15 years ago...shit we get around but always improve the places we settle in!!!!. Nice memoirs 5RR, makes me a little homesick, although isn't there anymore😂😂😂😂😂😂👍

My friend, I found the information that you gave us from your pocket book most interesting and there are items in there that would be invaluable today, to walkers, hikers and the like. To think that it was produced, solely for the purpose of helping you and your comrades to be better soldiers and operate safely is a fantastic thing to do when you think that this was done purely on a voluntary basis, with others in mind. I don`t think you will get many people today, going to such lengths. You are quite right to cherish it, especially as it is the one which you carried in the field.

Oh bloody hell... Ihad the same booklets (cards), I was anti aircraft. I knew these by heart. Never forget the day a Canberra came in low, and I mean below the level of the tower (he was ground hugging) I was on in Ruacana, pulling up last minute and going over our heads on his way to the air base. I was the first to recognize the offset cockpit and know he was a friendly. Of course, by that time he was well gone and we spent the rest of the next 20 minutes or so (our battery was spread out a bit on the various towers) tracking his progress back to Ondangwa air base.

Dear Sir, I was just wondering when you would publish your next video - I have been looking forward to hearing from you, actually!
Let me start by saying that I believe you should scan that booklet and publish it online: such items should be hosted in museums, but at least having a scan of the cards would make for a very interesting piece of history available to us online.
Second, I would have to ask a favour of you: I am a student, currently researching Rhodesia and its society for my bachelor's degree. I feel like Rhodesia's is a story too often untold, and I wish to include as many historical elements as possible - interviews, tales, personal opinions of those involved. I know I'm a bit overboard, but I would like to ask you if you would like to answer a few questions and help me out. So if you want, please let me know where I can send you a message and we could keep in contact.
You are a great man, your videos are giving Rhodesia the recognition it deserves in History, and your contribution would mean the world to me.
Happy new year, I hope to hear from you soon

@@fiveromeoromeo5225 I didn't believe adding a "Thumbs Up" would be as indicative of interest as an actual reply, so I would like to my own "A scan would be amazing!" to the mix. I sometimes have downtime at work, so I would most likely make a digital version in my free time. Thank you so much for putting out your videos.
