Watch the move on video and you will see that it only works because the recipient jumps as well. If they didn't jump into position, it simply wouldn't work. So, if you want a stunner, you would have to train to do it. And if you watch lots of videos of it, you will see that many times the opponent bounces back without actually hitting Stone Cold's shoulder.
it seems from what ive seen in some of steves vlogs and his podcasts that the dude keeps in good shape to this day it seems he practices healthy living .probably cutting back on the beers since his retirement from the business

So it looks & sounds like the guy is getting a hammering, when in reality, the most impact is on the arm and part of his side. It still hurts like hell, but it means they can make it seem more brutal without actually breaking the opponents bones - because they do those ones fast so it looks increasingly crazy.
