    Insurance companies should give a discount for people who install protection. Ultimately they have to pay the cost , so saving them money should save you money.

      I don't even insure my truck for 3/4 of the year, we only use it for a few months in the summer or winter. More like start fining the shit out of recyclers who get caught with these coming from any source other than a certified garage.

      A lot of insurance companies have a $1500 deductible so typically makes it pointless to put it on your insurance and pay higher rates. Even if someone does file a claim, they are still stuck with a large deductible. It's ALWAYS the people paying....insurance companies pay claims with their customers money.

    • @ytmadpoo
      @ytmadpoo Před 2 lety

      A reciprocating saw is going to have a REALLY hard time cutting steel cable. And it seems like that's the tool of choice for your average junky thief.
      Mine was stolen recently... the guy showed up a couple hours earlier and spent about 5 minutes under the truck doing who-knows-what. I think he may have tried unbolting it? I didn't see any obvious tools on him when he crawled under.
      He must have got frustrated (it doesn't unbolt or anything, so who knows why he spent so long under there). He left and came back a couple hours later with a buddy... both had cordless saws and they cut both ends at the same time. Made a HUGE racket at 3:30 AM, but they didn't care. It was about 20 seconds and they were done and gone. His initial visit gave him enough info to make that last visit go as quick as possible. Turds...
      I got my CatClamp and will be installing it today. Sure, there are ways you can cut it off, which is good since at some point you'd need to replace the converter, or work on the exhaust. But you'll have to work at it and bring more tools. These scumbags aren't looking to spend any more time than possible, and if it'll be noisy, even less so. You could use cable cutters, torches, grinders, etc. etc. but they'll all add time and noise - enough so that it'll alert people. Trust me, if that racket had gone a little longer, I'd have been out there with my "trusty sidekick" to figure out what's what, and it would have been an interesting thing to see what happened next.
      Crooks like this don't want confrontation. They want the fast score and skedaddle... Make it just hard enough that they go on to someone else instead.

      @@evercuriousmichelle there must be a campaign going against anything and everything that might be related to California right now. Kick your toe on the coffee table lately? Blame L.A. and tell us how much you hate the port of Long Beach for receiving such blasted Chinese goods.

      Then they have to REALLY want this specific Prius’ converters and have a lot of time on their hands. Chances are, there’s three others just around the corner for them to move along

    I got a really loud alarm and if I hear it going off. They better run for their life. Because they're not going to make it if I catch them. ⚖️=⚰️.

    • @OMGWTFLOLSMH
      @OMGWTFLOLSMH Před 3 lety +1

      You won't catch them. It takes about 30 seconds for a skilled loser to swipe a cat.

    • @wilo.2216
      @wilo.2216 Před 3 lety

      I don't worrying about catching them. Once they take a seat in my car they're going to get an electrifying shock of their life. That's to soften them up, so I can finish the job. 😆

    • @jac1207
      @jac1207 Před 3 lety +1

      It's more about putting off thieves to go look for easier targets. If they really want it, ultimately they can always just steal your car and chop it up. But cat thieves just want to be in and out fast without too much attention, not to mention way less tools and knowledge to just cut a catalytic converter.

    A louvered skid plate may be a better idea. Sorry to hear about this. How did they get under the car? It’s low, did they bring a car jack or something?
