International mothers day is celebrated on the 2nd sunday in May. However the UK cerebrate mothering sunday on the 4th sunday in lent which is a tradition dated back before we were around. That being said some countries in Europe also celebrate theirs on the international date. The UK kept their MD celebrations to fall in line with lent which is a date on the Christian calender.
