- This week I present to you the full DRIVE and SOUND of the sweet looking and nasty sounding 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG. Special thanks go to the guys from the TORPEDO GARAGE in Kaiserslautern (www.torpedo-garage.de) that let me drive and test this AMG for 2 days! This range-topping CLA comes with the all-new 2.0 AMG Turbo delivering 360hp and 450Nm of torque. Thank god that the power goes to all 4 wheels through the 4-Matic AWD system and a 7-speed DCT is also on board. Well, this definitely is the best 4-cylinder on the market, no doubt! Especially the punch at mid-RPMs is brutal and it always sounds raw and loud. This particular car actually "only" comes with the standard AMG exhaust system, the optional performance exhaust (option) will add even more sound. As the ride is already pretty firm I would recommend staying away for the optional performance suspension. For this test, it is hard to talk about the consumption as I did a lot of high speed and acceleration testing but the direction is pretty clear: If you ask for the performance you will not get below 15l/100km, but if you drive it in a normal way I expect and overall consumption of around 9l/100km. If you've ever driven a quick paddle shift car like this you will notice that it's hard not to shift it early because for one the car sounds great with ever shift and two it's amazing and fun how fast the car changes gear. I use to complain about reviewers shifting too early until I drove some of these cars and found myself shifting early for fun. It's not like a manual where you want to stretch the gears out.

This car is basically an A45 AMG 2013 since they both have the same AMG Engine and Exhaust. Ive been in the CLA 45 2014 so many times its really shows what its can handle by Performance Standards and that Exhaust just Surprises me when i hear it.

That is a GREAT soundtrack! Going to be even better with the sports exhaust! Much prettier than the A45 and a bit more practical. Audi has made a great S3, but they will have to go enourmous lenghts to beat this one!

Hi, is this the standard sports exhaust or optional performance exhaust? Other videos of the sports exhaust is much more quiet compared to yours. Yours sound like other performance exhaust videos! I am getting a cla 45, but my country does not allow the optional performance exhaust.
+Vujacic Lakers I'm honestly not 100% sure anymore but I think I checked the options of this car and it has the "standard" exhaust, nothing optional.

I have a 2015 cla 45 as my everyday car and I am not sure if it sounds this loud, but then again I've never been outside when a cla 45 has whipped by. When I saw the interior part of the video the sound sounds right. I think it sounds that loud in this video because of the area the driver is at, as sound resonates in the country side.
. This has AMG performance exhaust.. either you have it or not.. I don't have the option. It sounds bad in idle but sounds get better as the tires start to move

Zunächst möchte ich betonen, dass deine Videos klasse sind. Ich hatte das Vergnügen, kürzlich einen A45 AMG Probe fahren zu dürfen. Aber ich finde diese Literleistung irgendwie immer noch schräg, weswegen ich immer noch bei einem Kauf Bedenken habe. Vielleicht spinn ich mir da auch was zurecht....aber ich würde bei der Leistung einen größeren Hubraum vorziehen. Ich überlege ! ;-) Aber die Tage kommt noch zum Anschauen ein C400......da bin ich auch gespannt. LG
+SimonW1974 Moin. Danke für das Lob;) Ich selber aktuell einen Audi S3 mit 330 PS laut Prüfstand und ich habe bisher absolut problemlose 50k km damit abgespult. Der Motor schüttelt die Leistung quasi aus dem Ärmel und fühlt sich nicht im geringsten angestrengt an. Beim A45 bzw. CLA45 wir hier war das etwas anders, da das Getriebe dem Motor nicht perfekt zuspielt. Daher hat Mercedes ja jetzt auch die Einheit überarbeitet. Der Motor soll noch standfester sein, bei gleichzeitig gesteigerter Leistung auf 381 PS. Den größten Sprung gibts allerdings beim Getriebe welches nun deutlich harmonischer schaltet und daher auch den Motor weniger belastet. Bis du einen 381er gefahren, oder noch den 360er? Grüße, AMTV

Two different transmissions. This CLA here has a dual-clutch transmission.
This engine is super super hot after 15 mins driving due to the turbo. I think that factor also reduce the durability of the engine
I’ve had mine for 4 years and haven’t had a single issue. I drive it hard almost all of the time. It has a forged motor and can handle much more power

Cooles Video ;) alles schön und gut aber...ganz ehrlich wie lange soll der Motor halten ? Man muss sich mal nur auf dem Gebrauchtwagenmarkt umschauen...früher gabs Autos wie den 540i mit V8 und "nur" 286 PS...aber die halten heute noch. Ich finds schade dass die Hersteller sich davon abgewandt haben. Verbrauch hin oder her, sowas kaufen sich eben Leute die es sich leisten können.
Wie lange der hält kommt eher an die Person an.
