    You never forget the feeling of the first time your young bird jumps to your fist. The start of a very special bond between you and a wild animal, realising a childhood dream. Wish I still had the ability to have this lifestyle again.

    Man, oh man, that hawk is a fast learner! Seems to be a Harris's trait?
    Must be a real delight for you to see this level of calm, and intelligence, in your new partner?

    Bit of an odd question, but is there a reason why you bring the jesses between your forefinger and middle finger or is it just personal preference? I've always done and seen others putting the jesses between the middle finger and the ring finger for the safety postion.
    Loving the videos as always and I hope things keep going so well for you and Henry!

    Fab video and still learning. Now in my 3rd season with my male Harris’ inspired and learned by following you and ‘freebirdofreason’ with Woodie.
    Mine is quite a small male and if I allow him to feed to a full crop even with de yolked chicks as you did in this video it takes days for his weight to come down again (even though he’s free lofted and moving around). But I’m concerned about not feeding enough?

      @falconry.davesharpenatureboy Před 4 měsíci +1

      If you’re feeding and then his weight won’t budge he’s high in weight , if he’s too low you’ll find he may not gain weight on one feed a day …

    Great video as usual Dave, any thoughts on how to cure a bird flying from the perch to you before you call it. I find females more inclined to do this. Your not ready and all of a sudden you have a bird coming to you at a rate of knots. I have had it happen with birds that were not even that low in weight.

      Pretty much get them going loose really or get someone else to let them off if you need to double check anyting on creance ..

    Is there a reason you use lbs instead of grams Dave. I would imagine grams would be more precise or do we need to be that spot on

      Same as that Dave (66 this year) if I don't need to be that precise I will go back to lbs, it's what I am used to. Same with feet and inches😂😂😂

      @@falconry.davesharpenatureboy hi Dave Thanks buddy, really loving the content you are sharing with us all. I can really see your passion for these birds and as myself as a Novice, I bought my first book Falconry for beginners Adrian hallgarth and there’s clearly so much to learn about these Birds of pray And a lot of respect to maintain within falconry So my journey to becoming a Harris hawk owner is well on its way very green at the moment, but I’m in no rush to owning the birds I want full knowledge beforehand. Thanks again Jack
