when u speak two languages but start losing vocabulary in both of them. BYElingual~
edit: i didnt expect so many likes, thank u everyone!
This comment represents me
this is meeeee
Me, a 3 languages speaker, agree about this 😂
thats because you probably arent much in touch with those languages, be it speaking them or reading/listening to them. I speak 4languages, and yeah sure, two of them its because i grew up acquiring them either in school(spanish) or at home(arabic). The other two i started seriously learning them a couple years ago on my own. But sometimes i consume more content(tv, articles, shows, books) in french for example, so when i come back to arabic i find myself struggling to remember advanced vocabulary. The tip is to just keep on track with the languages you dont wanna loose. If you feel youre forgetting one, just go back to it and start reading, listening to podcasts, etc. Learning languages shouldnt be bothersome, but rather a cognitive process you enjoy going through. Just explore and fun with it! 💖💖💖💖You guys can!!
I felt that
Pro of bilingual : A LOT SERIOUSLY IT'S FUN
Cons of bilingual : can't get the right words in the right language, can't translate a phrase directly
Cons of bilingual: having two different exams at school in two different languages one after another, and finding yourself thinking in one while compiling the other test and not being able to translate that precise word, because your brain shut down :D
Pros of bilingual: you can make friends from around the worl and cry together when you're chatting and you both forget the words to express yourself in your common language, and have to run up to the translator or just go "you know, that thing... yeah" :D
I’m bilingual and sometimes I start mixing both languages together😂 and I start to lose vocabulary in both languages🤧😂
True ,as a trilingual i can confirm this
@@georgiam.3957 I'm only trilingual because of school curriculum 👁👄👁
@@asti_mahardika3324 i didn't pay attention in my German class ,if i did i would understand one more extra language right now lol . I studied English for 9 years i believe and got two degrees but apart from English i speak my mother language which is Albanian and Greek which is the language of the country that i was born and raised
whenever jae mentions how he can't multitask...
isn't singing while playing the guitar multi-tasking?
hmmm...
Yuen Ching i feel like playing guitar is more so muscle memory so its almost reflexive and fluent thats why people can play the piano with their eyes closed
@@lizethrodriguez3516 I play ukulele and I don't consider singing while playing multi-tasking. It is a matter of muscle memory, like you said. My fingers just end up doing it even if I'm not trying.
Lizeth Rodriguez yeah but that doesn’t apply if you’re not that good
@@ComedyGlor well yeah obviously
Franz Ferdinand if he can’t play the guitar that well then what I said applies. Shove your “yeah obviously” boo
Jae getting surprised that Alexa has meetings with her CEO/ company team tho. JYP step up pls
literally
fr jyp could never their artists need to be treated better
I thought JYP was the founder and CEO but not anymore? Another person is the CEO currently
That's beside the point but yeah 😅
Rachel Dewi Ang he’s still part of the board committee and partakes in major decisions, he also has the power to override votes like let’s say 8/10 of the board members vote for GOT7 to do a mature concept for a comeback, JYP the man can say no and make them do a cutesy concept instead
@@pandahatter788 that tea
I just hope that they will invite Johnny and Mark of NCT. That will be a beautiful disaster.
with Ten and Jaehyun also! Inviting those foreign swaggers will be funny tho ㅋㅋㅋ

I love being multilingual, so I'm excited to watch this.

I speak Spanish, Catalan & English so I'm so exited to jae's Spanish jejejeej
I speak Arabic, English, Amazigh and a few dialects
I speak Tamil, English, Spanish and little Japanese

honestly, being multilingual has only proved to be a struggle for me-
I keep forgetting words, like I'm supposed to be kinda smarter but I feel dumb

alexa: cognitive resources are resources that are cognitive
me: ah yes the floor here is made out of floor
Kind of reminds of Sana speaking Korean and explaining things with the same words
It reminds me of that one anime quote that says "if someone kills you ,you die "
@Min_SavageYoongi you are very welcome
Naeun from Return of Superman is a good example of language social cues.
Is Alexa a rapper? She speaks so fast.. I like how she converse with Jae.. I wouldn't mind another episodes.. but I want LA gangster MARK with Jae too..
She's more known for her singing. But she does rap too! ♡ She has powerful dancing skills as well.
Ikr?? Mark and Jae, omg that would be a dream duo😍
honestly, being multilingual gets me in so many weird situations with me accidentally replacing random words in Cantonese, Korean and sometimes Mandarin
I absolutely hate it as well, if u speak one language more than the other, ur mind goes blank when u try to speak it.
I remember randomly speakin vietnamese with my friends in school and i was like "fk oh um pretend you didnt hear that i kinda...oh just forget it sjgduhsdsjf"
oh same or like i would be speaking english to my friends and sometimes i dont know that word or i forget so im like "*insert cantonese word* you know that?" or when speaking cantonese to my parents and i forget the word in canto ill either ask my mom or my sister in english and try to fill in the blank. or that other time when i had to do a french test but i couldnt think of any french vocab only canto, english and korean.. bro the languages messes with my brain
@@carollai6410 I literally once spoke german in my french class lmao. I started a debate in Canto with another canto friend in Korean class and everyone was just looking at us in confusion
You all should join NCT 2020, all your languages would be useful.
Dang Alexa is one of those bright idols we need to know moreeee
Being bilingual and having to know even more languages is the best ... For those who hate for speaking another language 🙄 never understood that
Just don't give Jae any of these kinda topics, seeing him malfunctioned makes me dying in laugh
27:11 Jae: "eyes in English" Alexa: E Y E S Me: **chokes on water and dies of laughter on the floor for 40 minutes**
Jae is like malfunctioning 70% of the video he's just interested of anything about what AleXa's saying basically hahaha Please give him more brain-damaging topic like this HAHAHAHA
2:25 And now we have Jaehyung Park, the Argentine who can't speak a lick of Spanish. Bask in his glory.
2nd person perspective actually IS a thing! Mainly in literature, at least. Think of it like this:
- 1st person = "I" (the narrator is the main character)
- 3rd person = "they" (the narrator is completely separate from the story/characters)
*- 2nd person = "you" (aka you, the reader, are the main character of the story; most common in "choose your own adventure" style stories)*
It's not that common at all because it's pretty hard to do effectively, but when done right, it's really fun because it's the most immersive perspective to read from!
right, though ive only ever seen it in one book
Is it only me looking at AleXa’s shirt?? 👁👄👁
I’m looking at her hair
I have that shirt...it’s from Dolls Killz
@Christina me only looking at her earrings
so they both like Shinee and are lactose intolerant 😂 *I N T E R E S T I N G*
that one dislike is eric for jae throwing him under the bus

alexa gave a shout out to brazil and i'm so happy about that, she's becoming really popular here!!! hope she starts learning portuguese bc even though it is a difficult language it's pretty similar to spanish so it will be easier for her
I love how alexa "dumbs" up a sentence/word for jae when he doesn't understand its cute and funny
Jae being relatable for 41 minutes straight. #welcometogoldfishcommunity
I can say with confidence that being bilingual has made me more like Dory in the sense that I forget everything
"You guys have horse riding parties?" This is the most pure thing I have ever heard
Let's all just admit that being bilingual/multilingual is the best. No shame.
True
Proud immigrant here and my English grammar and pronunciation are so much better than native born Americans.
I see Jae I click.. Simple... Bilingualism is my life.
Damn AleXa is so articulate. I have been struggling with public speaking and the way she talks makes me so jealous.
24:07 Pro+nun+she+asian
Its ironic how jae's pronunciation of 'pronunciation' is so off 🤣
It's a California thing.
alexa saying she wants to learn portuguese and jae going “...brazil?”
me: YES brazil speaks portuguese, she knows it. Feeling appreciated
jae: when I was there I spoke spanish
me: oh here we go again...
this is a joke between brazilians ok? no harm intended
I found this podcast just this week and I can't get enough wow 🤯
You know what..? Jae and Alexa are great combinations...^^
there's a Turkish saying that says 'every language is one person'. i think learning a new language is very beneficial cause you're able to do so much more than you could with only one.
They have very similar sense of humor and go very well together as workmates! :)
I'm happy to see jae's show ( podcast) early morning .
"Argentina spanish and Mexico spanish are different"
Dude even along Mexico spanish can be different and sometimes ppl can't understand between each other
Btw, Chile spanish is like totally a different lenguage 😂😂😂😂 is so weird
it's like how indonesian bahasa and malaysian bahasa are different. even american english is different from uk/australian english
jinlissul they aren’t too different tho, just different slangs and accents
El español de Chile es chévere pero de verdad que es súper difícil de entender por modismos y el acento que tienen 💖
@@jinlissul Right. I can understand Indonesian but not the unusual vocabularies. I need to open the dictionary to know the meaning. Some of the words have different meaning too. For example, lucu means as cute in Indonesia but for us Malaysian it's mean funny. Oh, how I even explained this 😂
@@amesora1553 it's kinda relate wkwk, the first time i met a malaysian, i thought i'll understand it right away, since we have the same basic. But it's ended up made me feel dizzy dunno why :')
And i've never been that dizzy when i listen to english or korean language.
Or maybe it's bcs indonesian bahasa and malaysian bahasa, r just same but not too same wkwk
Or it just me :')
I'm so happy that AleXa likes Brazil, learn Portuguesa AleXa and come here, love to you and Jae from Brazil 🇧🇷
It's not just about knowing another language. It's about accessing the culture and custom, songs, movies, cultural nuances, different way of thinking etc that makes the mind and the person more adaptable to changes and different races of people. It makes one less parochial. This is even more so if the 2 or more languages come from different families of languages. Eg. knowing Mandarin Chinese (or any other non european langs) and a European language exposes you 2 opposite thoughts and cultures vs just knowing 2 languages of the same family (eg, Portugese/Spanish) or (Mandarin/Cantonese)
I'm bilingual. I know Spanish and English. But I'm kinda sad that I'm losing my Spanish bc i don't speak it as much as I would want to. I only speak Spanish at home but I'm not close with my family so I don't speak it as much, plus I don't have many Hispanic friends at school (even tho there are a lot of Hispanic students that I could talk to.) So its more like bye-lingual for me. Tears.
If I can give you some advice...
you can try watching vlogs or listening to podcasts in spanish, I don't talk English that much with anyone around me but I'm always watching, reading and writing on English so I keep practising everyday! If you don't know some vocabulary or if you have trouble listening clearly all the words, you can try watching latin soap operas, movies or series with captions/subtitles, that way you can have fun and practice your spanish at the same time
nikoii advice is really great, you can also try to socialized with more people who speaks spanish online, or reading books~
I think watching spanish shows is good practice. There's some good ones on Netflix rn like Always a witch, Elite, and more. There's Spanish satellite tv too like ch.34, ch.46, ch.52. There's spanish CZcamsrs too if that's more your speed. Can't remember any names rn but if you just look something up in spanish they'll come up. Spanish music is a decent refresher too but it's probably best as a supplement and not a main thing.
Same here, I speak both. But I don’t use English much only with my brother, so other than, and like two or three friends, I do not use it. And when I try to use it it sounds weird 😕 Bye-lingual trouble 😂
If you have Discord I would like to improve my English and you could improve your Spanish ;)
I have always been fascinated and impressed by people who are multilingual. I'm bilingual and on my way to learning my third language. I think being able to speak many languages is so deliberating and kinda giving you wings and springs. It's so advantageous and so coool
Jae being impressed by horse-back-riding parties is literally the cutest thing x) Like it's so mundane, but he's so impressed by it. I-
the way alexa speaks so eloquently shows that she definitely was a theatre kid 😂 i can't speak nor type as fluent and gramatically correct as her at all times. must be nice to be able to do that and speak multiple languages 😂
I've been waiting for this. Thank you, Dive Studios.
I think this podcast series is gonna help me with my bio projects. LOL. I never thought this was gonna happen. thanks! XD
35:58 "The way that your first language is second nature to you"
Jae: Yeah funny thing about that....
I know they are K-pop artists and this is supposed to be normal but dang! their hair game is so on point like... Their hair colors, their hair's health (if that's the word) and everything.
Jae saying he can't multitask but he can sing and play guitar SIR WHAT ARE YOU SAYING
FINALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE ❤❤❤
Thank you for posting the full ep here!!!! I've been waiting for it!!!
as a korean girl from southern california, i can confirm that we all go to korean school at church on saturdays 😂
I am listening to this as I am studying korean, the pdf is in english, I was born and raised in Argentina, and I find it so much easier to learn a new language, since I learned english by myself without even trying, and now I am learning Korean on purpose and I swear It is so easy to me, so Alexa is right, being bilingual helps you learn other languages faster
Omg this is so true !! I’m also learning Korean without even trying it’s been two years now and I understand 40% of it without having classes or studying so now I wanna learn to fluency and after mandarin would be my fifth language
Truth. The hard part is learning to read the characters, but everyone says that's the part that makes everything easier. Go figure
i was watching this with the idea of me being a bilingual. i totally forgot i’m a multilingual like i’m fluent in three and understand four.. but sometimes i find it crazy how fast you can switch languages according to the person you’re speaking to without even realizing
one of the points that jae hit on, about ppl saying that speaking two languages is" detrimental" is so true! idk if its bc i am from a hispanic community here in the u.s but we would always be pressured to learn English as quickly as possible and only speak English in school so we wouldnt 'confuse' the languages (this was in the 2000s when i was in elementary). I was lucky that my district had the English as your second language program, bc i know of some other kids that were just thrown into regular (english) classes when they only spoke Spanish at home:// One of my friend's little bro even had a teacher tell him RECENTLY that him speaking two languages was 'bad' for him. like bro what LIKE IN THIS DAY AND AGE w all the research saying that its good!! I'm also glad that many are going out of their way to learn a second language outside of English in recent years, but the fact that we were always discouraged and criticized for knowing two languages growing up just doesnt sit well with me lmao. so yeeeh i've def heard what Jae talked about lmao anyways i really enjoyed this podcast i laughed many times during it thank youuuu!
I love these podcasts starring jae and alexa
I've just found out this podcast series a few days ago and I love them so much.
