- Hey gang, well, it's finally here, the 100th EPISODE of Down From The Attic. It's actually mental for me to think there's close to 25 hours of down from the attic out there! Thank you everyone who's supported the channel and followed me during this journey, it's been a transformative 7 years. From doing the channel, I now edit, film, animate and lately 3D animate for a living. Down From The Attic always allowed me to try out and test new ideas and put into practice new skills I was learning along the way, and with your support, it's helped me with finding my career. So again, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who watches, it does mean a lot to know that my videos are so well received and enjoyed.
Well...I suppose onto the review! This is a game I've been holding off on reviewing for some time because it deserved an episode where I pulled out all the stops, green screen, effects, animation. It's the 1992 Electronic game THE OMEGA VIRUS! A talking time sensitive game where you're battling to save the earth from a vicious virus intent on blowing it up! One of Milton Bradley's finest games in my humble opinion, it has it all, gorgeous presentation, fun game play, quality components, tension, co operative play or competitive... it's a marvel. I hope you enjoy!
I'll be back soon with episode 101 where I'll be going from a great game to one that's...truly abysmal. Got to address the balance right?
Thanks again for getting me to 100 episodes,
Luke - Hry
“Help me help me”…I’ll be hearing that in my head for the next week haha…I own this one! Will be busting it out for the fourth it’s been a minute
Little known fact: there is an emulator to replace the central unit, called OVEMU, that runs on a computer. While it isn't as grandiose as the central unit, it makes the tabletop simulator version of this game functional.
Also, congrats on your 100th episode, I'm glad you finally covered this one.
@@drillx6950 I had no idea! That at least makes those ones with busted units playable! Thanks for the heads up!
Congratulations buddy! That was awesome! Your hard work paid off on this one!
This is brilliant. Happy to hear you're living the dream job too 😊. Love the end game "You human scum...!" 😂
Down from the attic is a staple in my household.
Why, yes, it _is_ one of those episodes…like IV through VI!! 😁🌌 Congratulations on a *stellar* 100th! That trip down memory lane at the start was awesome - fitting for a vintage‐focused channel that you have your own vintage eras to savor. Solid overview of Omega Virus, as expected - and you really plussed it (as Walt Disney would say) with the immersive experience…I feel like Iʼve just been back to Disneyland! 👍
Congratulations!!! It's great to see you back at it, so many of my games have come directly from your recommendations! Tornado Rex, Bermuda Triangle, Tilt'n'Tumble (the list goes on). Just managed to finally get a copy of Forbidden Bridge 🤩 So thank you!!!! 😊
Fantastic 100th episode mate. Very well put together and entertaining. Congratulations on reaching 100 episodes.
Oh, yeah.
Let's go.
Congrats on 100 Episodes Luke!!
Your Channel inspired me to get some grails myself, so thank you for that!
I've owned this game for several years know and it is my all time favourite vintage electronic board game. Love the video!!💯
I love the theme of this board game and the personality of the virus, I want to get my hands on this game one day! Also this is probably one of the best Board game review videos I've ever seen, great job! 👏🏾
Congrats on 100 episodes, what an amazing video!
Congrats the 100th episode. A superb video for the episode with an amazing game. I’ve never heard of this game until now. I’m gonna have to save up to purchase a copy, it’s worth every penny, as expensive as it gonna be. This is the best electronic game I’ve come across since Dark Tower.
Keep up the amazing work 👍🏻
Whooo.... 100 well deserved.
i dont know how i've never heard of this!!!!
looks like a great game, and a great video too!
You hit 100! Congrats on everything, it's been an utter pleasure to watch this series through from start to finish, and in total seriousness, you've gotten me playing and discovering more games now than I ever have in the past. You also weren't kidding when you said you had a big one... You picked an utter belter for it. A pleasure to hear so much more about a game I've heard so much about but not thought to look into. I'm sure if Restoration do try and tackle Omega Virus, it'll be something special given their knack for reinventing stuff for modern gamers but maintaining the spirit.
Roll on the dumpster fire of 101... ;)
@@jonathandixon2896 I’m remaining cautiously optimistic. Omega virus is such a simple game at its heart, it’s pretty easy to teach and get a game underway. Whilst I LOVE return to dark tower it is a complicated game and it’s deterred some friends from playing it with me, they take one look at all the tokens, cards, and it’s overwhelming for them. I hope that Restoration don’t “over-egg the omelette” so to speak, it needs to be a simple and fun as the original but with some additional modes and functions. Would be fun if the virus could assume control of the probes and have them attack players or something similar? There’s scope with omega virus to grow it
Great review Luke. I was looking at my copy the other week and noticed that I’d left batteries in from last time I played it, and they’d corroded! 😬 Got to properly test it with new batteries, but HOPEFULLY it wasn’t too bad. 🤞
Oof...
Congratulations on 100 episodes and getting well and finding a job doing what you love, nicely done 🤩 This game looks fantastic! I'll keep and eye out for it on eBay and see if I can land a copy for a decent price.
Great episode! Hope everything is going well.
I just got this game, and for a great price! Now to talk the family into playing...
From México . Congrats
I loved Omega Virus as a kid. It was one of those games that you knew wasn’t just another version of Monopoly. If you have it, maybe in October, you could take a look at Atmosfear: the Harbingers. I think it was called Nightmare in Europe.
CONGRATULATIONS on 100 episodes..!
100 INCREDIBLY awesome and entertaining episodes..! I have seen them all, and loved them all..!
I cannot WAIT for your next episode to come..!
Excellent videos! I find them very satisfying to watch. A few cameo appearances by your dad would be great 😊 Please pass on my regards to him 👍
Congrats on the 100th episode. Been following the channel since almost the very start. And what a great choice of game for this milestone.
Love the effects! This is a very neat looking game. I kinda want to see it get remade like darktower (though without the tablet dependency)
Congrats!
@@randomguy9898 this is what I want for omega virus too, no app. There’s something so tactile about having the button unit in the middle, it makes itself the 5th player in the game. I think that’d be lost with just dropping an iPhone or iPad in the middle of the board
Fan From México
I think those negatron pieces are re-used from the laser towers in Fortress America!
Oh hi there
this is ep 99 tho i dont care if the perplexus rubiks video got nuked it didnt release either way good vid and happy 99
It really is the 100th episode, for there were two numbered 26 (Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul‐Kar in #26 part I, expansions in #26 part II). If you find that confusing, you should check out Marvel Comicsʼ numbering schemes sometime… 🕷
I do care about the nuking…Iʼm sure Luke put a lot of time, effort, and soul into that doomed episode…
@@Erik.Miller he shoulda numbered part 2 27 then
@@jknifgijdfui A good gamer keeps you guessing!! 😁🂡🂠
Maybe plan do to Junta
