  • As part of Whitman-Walker's 40th anniversary, officially January 13, 2018, we're sharing 40 stories to help tell the narrative of Whitman-Walker in community. Please meet Max Robinson, the first African American broadcast network news anchor in the US and a founder of the National Association of Black Journalists. Max is the namesake of Whitman-Walker’s Anacostia health center. 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the Max Robinson Center in southeast DC.
Learn more about Max’s story through the documented panel discussion! Special thanks to DCTV for capturing the event and The Lincoln Theatre for hosting us!

This is the first time I viewed this video remembering the late Max Robinson. I learned more about Max than I knew after working alongside Max at the ABC Network Bureau in Chicago. Back then, we relied more on rumors rather than facts. Thank you for opening the eyes of this white guy. Max, you died way too young at 49. Rest in peace.
