Chris Hero is, without a doubt. one of the greatest wrestlers of this generation. From the early 2000s to today, Hero has traveled all across the globe putting on absolute classics in nearly every prominent promotion you can think of. From putting on a 90-minute classic TLC match in IWA-MS with CM Punk to flaunting how much of a “wrestling genius” he is against Tyler Bate in NXT UK, Hero has done it all, and then some. Studying from the greats like Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, Fit Finlay, and Johnny Saint, Hero has one of the most impressive and varied in-ring arsenals of all time. From elbows to kicks to grapples to submissions to straight-up knock-out punches, he has hundreds of ways to lay you out for the count. Even as one of the greatest in-ring competitors of our generation, his character, and personality make him one of the most beloved wrestlers of all time. From his iconic theme song performed by the late, great Viro the Virus, to his basketball and hip-hop-inspired ring attires, Hero is much more than a guy who can do cool moves. While he didn’t reach the highest levels of the WWE, his veteran status and knowledge helped catapult the NXT careers of the likes of Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, and more. It’s apparent that whenever you step into the ring with Hero, you become a better wrestler and are almost guaranteed to have a banger of a match. There is a reason Hero is called a wrestling genius. The man knows and can work every style. For over 20 years now, he has wrestled all over the world, and he is constantly learning, constantly improving. WWE releasing him sucks, but there are positives. Namely, it means we can get even more Hero dream matches. And who knows? Maybe New Japan or AEW will take an interest in him. And truth be told, I don't see this man retiring unless he cannot compete anymore. He loves this business too goddamn much to ever let something like age stop him.
