- A really simple bag, using fabric you wouldn't expect would work! Of course you can use any fabric you like, and although I've used shop-bought handles you could easily make your own.
All materials used are from www.debbieshoresewing.com
Materials:
32” x 14” [81cm x 336cm]cm] outer fabric
32” x 22” [81cm x 56cm] lining fabric
32” x 22” [81cm x 56cm] firm interfacing [Decovil light]
2 x 1” [2.5cm] D rings
Handle
Magnetic snap
Plate or saucer to round off corners
Cut:
2 pieces of outer and lining fabric each measuring 16” x 14” [41cm x 36cm]
2 pieces of lining fabric each measuring 4” x 4” [10cm x 10cm]
2 pieces of lining fabric each measuring 11” x 7.5” [28cm x 19cm]
Fuse interfacing to the wrong sides of the outer fabrics and one piece of flap fabric
You’re such a good teacher. This bag is beautiful!
I’m in the process of making this bag with jersey fabric I have had for ages it has elephants and tortoises on it ,and now I’m able to make this bag I’m so very grateful to you and your tutorials . ❤
You are the best bag maker in the world and a good teacher. I have made 5 tote bags after watching yours and use them daily. Thank you from Bangalore, India.
Thank you so much for the class I can’t wait to make it. You are such a good teacher
When I started making bags, I was also decluttering my wardrobe, I had dresses that I hadn’t worn for years but for personal reasons I couldn’t give them to a charity shop or throw them away….I took them apart and made beautiful tote bags from them; every inch of fabric being used. I keep one specially for my walking shoes together with a rain coat in the trunk of the car…..others I use for my grocery shopping…. I’ve found a way to look at my memories every day.
Thank you Debbie, for another lovely tutorial….It’s raining here today so guess what I am going to do.
Thanks for your comment, lovely to hear what you've been using old clothing for...
Thank you Debbie very much for doing your videos very good teacher I've learned so much from you keep up the good work
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial Debbie ❤. You are so gifted and make such wonderful projects. I wonder - the bag in the background - is it your design aswell? It's beautiful. Love from Stockholm
I bought a pattern for this bag from USA and found it complicated to sew. Your teaching is way more simpler. I sew it again using your way of sewing it. Thank you Debbie
I love all your bag videos. I have made a bunch of bags, but never one with rounded bottom. I can't wait to finish my jacket to see how much fabric I have left to make this bag. I might have to get more fabric to make a matching wallet.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent. I’m 2 days post op and it brightened my day. I love the design and the fabrics you used. ❤️ Debbie you are amazing. I wish I could have the joy of meeting you personally.
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you for sharing about how ironing changes the measurement of fabrics. So many do not iron folds or wrinkles out, which cause distortions is their projects. Great sewing tip.
This is a lovely bag. Love the dart technique. 🤗🤗🤗
Either would work well…
Such a adorable and usefully back. Such great fabric to use also. Well done Debbie.
Got to try this one. It’s beautiful
Stay safe.

Hello but I have been following your channel for years and I would like to see some of your old videos like the headbands and the hanging hearts you did plus the clothes hanger organizer but everything you do I amazing
I love this bag!
i made a bag using the white version of the handle from your website. love it. i think i will be getting the red and the black one as well
Debbie you are so well loved. You are such a great teacher.I just love this bag, one of my fav's. I had a stumble with it though and need to find out if I did it wrong. The bag front, back and 2 lining pieces were cut 16x14 and then we took another 1 1/2 inches off each top and taped down. Well, now these measure 11 at the top. So, when I tryed to put the straps on they bunched up because they had no room. In you video it looks like you had a inch or so on each side. please tell me what I did wrong.

You are really great madam..beautiful design
Gorgeous bag
Hello Debbie! Love All of your Tutorial! What is the bag finished size and what seam allowance do you use to sew the bag. I have Cut the Bag Pattern out using the measurements you provided. Thanks so much for making the pattern easy to sew! Thanks, Teresa.
Beautiful bag as always Debbie! TYSM!
Thanks so much
Very nice bag
Thanks a lot.
Debbie I was looking at this video today and wondered what was the length of the dart, how long did you make the line from the curve. I hope this makes sense. I have some beautiful material, not enough for a blouse or dress but would make an awesome bag with your method.
Cheers

❤❤❤😊🎉
Beautiful ♥️ where did you buy the handle.
I really enjoy your tutorials and have made several of your bags. I don't know why but I find your volume a bit low. Please consider doing more tutorials that are not recorded live. I like the straight-forward tutorials so much better.
Nice.
Linda!!!!!!
Awesome teacher. Can I use a foam since we do not have decovil light here? All we have is a medium pellon. Also can I use a regular handle that I sew and what length would you suggest? Lastly, can I use regular cotton fabric since I don't have viscose? I am in the Caribbean. Grateful for your response as I would love to make this bag today. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Use any fabric you like, stabiliser is ideal for lightweight fabrics, I'm not familiar with Pellon, but worth giving it a try! My handl;e is about 24" long...
@@debbieshore Thank you so much Miss Debbie for you gracious response. I will use the foam because the pellon is quite soft. Question: If I wanted to make the flap from faux lather or soft leather would I need to line it with cotton or with itself and would I need to stabilize it with foam as well. Thank you.
Muy bonito
Love your bag, where can I get the handle. Love all your videos
From Debbie's website is
If making a dress with viscose and I wanted to give it just a little more structure without taking too much of the drape from it What would be the best way to do this?
I see so many lovely designs in viscose fabric, but not all patterns recommend using a viscose fabric.
I'm not sure this would work with a dress, you may be better off buying a heavier fabric...
Thank you :)
Would silk be a good replacement for the viscose?
That would work but may be quite expensive!
Hi Debbie, I love this. Could H640 be used instead??
Absolutely! The bag may be a little softer but that would work...
@@debbieshore I have two lots of Viscose I could use, it's just choosing which one lol
Hi Debbie, What is the name of the fabric, please? Thank you!
What is the name of that stablizer?
How is devocal applied
it's fusible so you iron it on to the back of the fabric
Where do I bag the chain what hold the bag please
I have them on my website, www.debbieshoresewing.com
Where can I buy bag handles? I’m in the UK.
