I'm quite surprised you chose this track to react to, given your distaste for clean vocals in metal, I wouldn't have thought that Pain would be a band you gave your time. I've always enjoyed Pain; it's a great outlet for Tagtgren's more commercial sounding stuff. I also tend to prefer their upbeat songs to their slower ones, although when it comes to Hypocrisy I tend to quite enjoy his slower songs quite a lot... But I guess even in that project, I still prefer Tagtgren's faster songs.
On this song, I wonder if Peter Stormare actually tracked the vocals in the studio with Peter, cause the sort of lower register stuff that makes up the verses of this songs has a totally different timber that Tagtgren's voice. Considering the number of vocalists Tagtgren has worked with in all the albums he's produced over the decades, I'm sure he could get a good performance out of Stormare too!
Is Hypocrisy a band you're into? I've been a fan of their's since the 90ies. It seems like it might be one of those exceptions for you where they are a metal band but they sometimes have clean vocals. I tend to think Peter tends to keep his clean vocals to songs that are less metal in Hypocrisy though; songs like "Slippin' Away." The Final Chapter also has some great non-metal tracks on it that I think fit perfectly with the rest of the album despite the abrupt genre change. It just goes to show that no matter the genre Tagtgren is working in, he writes great songs.
Also, I forgot to mention... They must have gone with the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas motif for this video to give a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that Johnny Depp and Tagtgren look like long lost brothers.

My issue isn't with clean vocals in general, I like lots of stuff with clean vocals, it's the use of cleans in extreme metal that bugs me. I don't mind viking\blackmetal\folk cleans when done right and suits but I don't like those metalcore sort of cleans that are along the lines of something like Linkin Park or whiney cleans or those very pop sounding cleans that a lot of female vocalists do in metal. I love a lot of music, i'm just particular. 😆 I like some Hypocrisy, I definitely prefer their more energetic stuff, i'm not into slow music in general for the most part with a few exceptions. Peter is great and has done lots of quality stuff but Hypocrisy is definitely a bit hit and miss and i don't think i'm really familiar with him singing for the band if i'm to be honest. I think that's quite possible with Peter Stormare too, you never know! 💀🤘🏻
