    I was toying with the idea of doing American history next year, but I'm swooning over these lessons! They look so good and I think this would be so fun for my kids. 😍

      I totally recommend it! It’s so perfect for elementary too (and even up to middle school I think if you added some chapter books or something)

    I came over from Jackie’s channel and my interest in this curriculum is how I found her channel. I am trying to decide which version to purchase for January!

    Thank you so much for the tip about the libraries as we have an extremely limited library. I have been looking into this, so that tip is super helpful!

    • @thepracticalhomeschooler
      @thepracticalhomeschooler  Před 2 lety

      It’s definitely doable if you don’t have a great library! But I think adding in the extra recommended books helps to flesh it out a bit!

    • @thepracticalhomeschooler
      @thepracticalhomeschooler  Před 2 lety +2

      I do want to say though, that some of these books are in CZcams too! People are reading them aloud. I’ve found quite a few on here

    Your girls are so cute! So funny how they said they were listening to the China story. Ha! HA! Sounds like something my oldest would say if I said he wasn't really into something.

    Great idea to have your kids decide which country/culture to do rather than going in order of the book!

    I think I am going to start incorporating some Beautiful Feet books with our Masterbooks America's Story 1 curriculum. Make it drag out probably 2 years, but I love the idea of delving in with the books. It will break it up some, too. Oh and... congrats on the pregnancy! I am expecting #4 also! Due in april... hopefully neither of us will lose our marbles next year homeschooling with newborns! Can't be too much worse than homeschooling through the first trimester, right? 😅

    You’ve been so helpful. Can I bother you for one more question? I just watched a review where a mom said the books in the BFB history curriculum portray some violence (historically accurate) in the book Leif the Lucky. Do you see this in this BFB series you’re covering? I’m very picky on what my kids see and read so I’m curious. Thanks again!

    • @thepracticalhomeschooler
      @thepracticalhomeschooler  Před 2 lety

      Leif the lucky is in their early American history pack…we haven’t used that one, so I couldn’t say for sure. If you’re wanting to get the curriculum and that’s the only hang up, you might consider omitting that specific book and finding a more child friendly version. Just a thought 🙂

    I know you’ve moved into the 2nd course but how many days per week did you do it and how long were the lessons? I’m thinking we might do both Around the World curriculums next year for World Geography. My son is an auditory learning so retains read alouds, etc quite well!

    • @thepracticalhomeschooler
      @thepracticalhomeschooler  Před rokem

      We did it 4-5 times a week and it took us the whole year but that’s because we did almost all of the extra recommended library reading (many times it was 2 books a day). If you do just the reading from the books they provide, you could do them both in a year. For what it’s worth, we really really loved the extra reading they recommend, and I think it makes it much richer and more engaging.

    I would like to keep any of religious influence out of our education if possible. We are okay with knowing/learning OF different types of religions and beliefs but don't like it to dictate our children's education. Would this still be a good fit you think? The "biblical" section worried me a bit.

    • @thepracticalhomeschooler
      @thepracticalhomeschooler  Před rokem

      I can’t speak for the other curriculum from the company, but we’ve done around the world part 1 and 2, and there is VERY minimal religious aspects. In fact, I’d definitely say it’s more neutral. I can only recall one or two small little things for both of them combined.

    @RockSimmer-gal4God Před 2 lety

    It looks awesome but we don’t have a good library so we may not do this. Idk what our library will be like when we move so we may leave this curriculum till after we move moved!!!

    • @thepracticalhomeschooler
      @thepracticalhomeschooler  Před 2 lety

      Definitely consider it, especially if you like a Charlotte Mason approach! It’s not impossible to do without a good library but it definitely helps!
