Bought my Security 9 today for $299 Rural King I have many pistols, mainly Ruger. (Customer Service is excellent) I don't have large hands so this oistol fits my hand great!
I just bought one with the factory installed Viridun laser. Haven't fired it yet...going to the range this week, but it sure as hell is easier to carry than my faithful P89, being it's 9 or 10oz lighter. Looking forward to giving a trial run. Thanks for the vid. It's guys like you that help some of us decide what to buy!!
@@sliver64209 Well, it's been 100% flawless. Feeds everything I throw into it. I bought a couple of 17rd mags for it. I like the extension because I've got big hands. It's fairly accurate, but I have better groups with my P-89 and my Canik.
It's not a slide release according to the Ruger manual, it is a slide stop. However, i sent mine to Ruger for another issue and when it came back it works perfectly as a slide release now.
Walked into Rural King last Friday to buy dog food and thought I'd check stock in the gun dept. Walked out about 25 minutes later with a new Ruger Security 9 ($299.99) $317.99 including 6% state sales tax. Didn't have time to go to the range this weekend and the local range is close on Mon & Tue, so I'll go put about 150 through it Wed evening. I've been told the slide release loosens up after some use, but it does need to be a little bigger.
Bought a Canik Tp9sf Elite for $320 including tax. Tenifer finish, match grade barrel, Warren tactical sights, fiber optic front sights (steel also), best trigger, and a hinged plastic gun box. Security 9 cannot compare for this price.

I have not changed sights on mine as I shoot and hunt and carry it with me everywhere I go in all weather conditions as it works great for me as is Very Reliable
Many of the Ruger newer models (post P series) have a SLIDE LOCK ONLY!. The reason is with such high spring tension to make sure the round goes into battery, you use full slide inertia by pulling it back and releasing it. Ruger needs to print a warning in big red letters not to use the slide lock as a release.
Great gun. I use one for my carry/truck gun and really like it. My favorite practice ammo is 124gr CCI Blazer Brass. Never had it malfunction with that brand and I've put hundreds through it.

Hello and good afternoon, I have a security 9 and I am really curious on wha light are you running as well was what holster do you use with that light. Its been supper difficult to find both
Olight mini is what I use . Laser light combo . Real easy to install no tool needed. What I need to know is what holster this guy is using . Can’t find one configured for light attachment.
I have to agree with PewPew...for an economy gun, it has a really good trigger. It's a very easy to run gun. I took a class with it...and it was a solid pleasure to use! No hiccups. Never needed my back-up gun. The Security 9 is one of my favorites in that size pistol.
@@PewPewReviews can you tell me what holster you used for this, being that you have a light on it as well. I've looked all over and still looking for something decent.
Its what I carry everywhere every day. As a Uber driver I always got one ready to go.
Totally agree, I have several handguns and this one is still my favorite.
It's a comfy little tac shooter if you treat it right!
I bought 2 of them during this pandemic. I love the grip and the weight is perfect
if you put the mag in with a little force (not a ton, and ammo in the mag as well) it actually auto forwards!
It sure does😎
Also works with the ruger 57
Cabellas has them new for 299.00 . I just bought one and I love the thing. Great grip, and not a single jam in over 500 rounds so far.
Tear down is "tool less" in a sense. There's a cut out on the mag to remove the pin.
And yes, if you load the mag with some force it will trigger the slide release, in a sort of "auto forward" action.

the slide release is smaller because it has auto forward if you pop the mag in with a little force.

I got 2 mags with my retail purchase as well. Not sure where the author got his with only one mag.
He did say he got it used and not new though 🤷🏾♂️
Shell casing doesn't always eject, gets jammed often. Sent to Ruger and they replaced the ejector. Haven't fired it since, hope all goes well.
Mine was same out the box. Practice ejecting intire magazines and took it apart and cleaned a ludicrous amoutn of packing grease
It depends on the gun and how you keep it maintained. My Ruger P95DC eats steelcase with no issues.
It's almost exactly Glock 19 size but slightly thinner. It fits G19 and GW2 holsters perfectly.
