I own one, and it's still a very nice ride. Harmann kardon 5.1 surround sound. Mine is updated with a professionally installed parrot Bluetooth system, and back-up camera. Still relevant AF. 2003 model 9-5.

This is timely as I’ve been reviewing your vids on this 9-5, esp. for rust. Just wanted to say that your channel and others are invaluable as to showing what’s possible w/these cars. A 15 or 20 yr-old Saab may not be for everyone, but there’s also nothing to fear about this brand gone more than a decade ago already. “The more you drive them, the happier they are”. They need attention and maintenance, but most aren’t garage queens. And a good old “Italian Tuneup” is always fun. As for my ‘99 9-3 cv, for some reason I thought it would be turning 25 a/o this month (Feb.), but the door tag says it was actually born in Nov. 1998. So it shares the same birth month as me, meaning all the more that we were just meant to be.💙🚙😂

Love owning Saab in Sweden. If I can't find the help I need on CZcams, there are alot of helpful people in the Saab turbo club of sweden-group. Parts I've needed so far have been easy to come by and I even happen to live near junkyard where you yourself walk around and pick stuff from junked cars. Sure it's sad to see Saabs there, but at least I can pick them for parts.
I got a 9-5 07 and 05. Both SC. The 05 will be sold because a couple of months down the line with the 05, I realised I wanted an automatic. And vector. And 2,3 😂

My 2007 9-5 is still going. It's had a hard year and some rough roads have destroyed the bushes.. but that's life. Oil leaks prevalent. Gearbox... just about hanging in there. Changed DIC as the original finally died - 16 years and 140k miles out of the first wasn't bad! I had a terrible water leak inside during a storm and the car smelled awful - was genuinely worried it was curtains for the car. However I changed the cabin filter, cleaned out every drain pipes and cleaned / silicone-sprayed every rubber seal and thankfully no repeat of that issue. Changed the thermostat also. Next job is the rear bushing, anti-roll bar drop links up front and ball joints. 2 new tyres - have run Kumho for the last 10 years and they wear well. Clean up the oil, keep praying the gearbox hangs in there and should get me into 2025. Given there are 6 Saabs in the house, it's hard to keep on top of things..! 149k miles on it now. Best wishes to you all!

I recently bought a 9-5 2005 that originally has been used as a police car in Sweden but it had lots of different owners since. Lots of work to do because of bad services on it, more like lack of services
I'm going to fix it up tho, they reinforced the frame and stuff on it for the police so it's a fun car!
This 9-5 feels better on the road compared to all other 9-5's I've had before, I'm more of a ng93 fan because of more tech II programming options, smaller, more of a sport car among other things though but this one gets a pass 😁
It's my 7th Saab now and I just wanted to say thanks for what you do! Your videos are great and it's really nice and inspiring to see your interest in this underrated brand of cars and all the work you do to keep them on the roads!
    You're awesome! 🤟😎

Yo watched your vid and I do agree these things are pretty much indestructable
Bought a 2005 93 sport estate 2.8 V6 8 years ago did some software upgrades and some bolt ons. Still dont know its top speed but fastest ive driven it was about 170 miles an hour. Put around 75k miles on the clock and since I live in Germany (no speed limit) so ive been driving this car at 150 mh almost daily.
Engine holds up tranny holds up absolutly amazing.
Ofcourse sometimes some GM parts fail or break down like front springs but these parts are cheap and easily replaced. And fuel consumption is a thing.
If you wanna go fast on a budget HIghly recommend

I have 2x 9-5 Hot Aeros... a 2003 Glacier Blue (rare) covered 280k miles with full Lux interior. & a 2004 Espresso covered 81k miles. Abbott Racing have cared & upgraded them both & they still go great & upset thr local beemer brigade lol. The rear end on the Glacier Blue was fully re fabricated by Abbott Racing whilst with the previous (& only other) owner, the Espresso is solid as has been garaged its whole life. A throttle body is about the only time one of them has stung me. That's why I only drive Saab! I've got 2x 9-3 Aeros on the drive as well. They breed lol

Ow extra addendum last year my car got clipped by a BMW x5 that drove on. The BMW lost its mirror while my car was just fine. Retrieved the lost BMW part notified the autorities and that hit and run driver got caught.

I find them quite easy to work on. There's very few difficult jobs to do on it. Changing the alternator and a few of the pulleys kinda stinks cause there isn't much room between the front of the engine and the frame and if your power steering cooler line rusts out you gotta drop the subframe almost completely (you can keep the torque arm connected to keep it semi in place) to get at the banjo bolt on the steering rack, but other than that they're easy to work on, except when everythings rusty. Then it just takes a bit more patience.

Have you had a transmission hose leak? It’s hard to find people that will get the job done . I love my Saab and don’t want to part with it Any tips ?

    • @daryljoseph
      @daryljoseph Před 4 měsíci

@saresteve I've never had a transmission hose leak. Do you mean the clutch hose? I've only had the F35 5-speed in all my 9-5's. Is your car a 5mt or auto? I've never had the transmission hoses leak and they feel really smooth stock, but I've switched mine out on two of my cars to the Genuine Saab steel braided line. Feels more precise if that makes sense to you, but if you want the original feel just get a new one and change the hose out yourself. It's very easy to do and it's easy to bleed if you have the 5mt. You can go online and search for Saab WIS. It has all the information on how to do any job on the car and the torque specifications, and then just go online and watch videos if you get stuck on stuff or find someone like me to help you. They're pretty easy to work on in my opinion.

One month ago I bought one of my dream cars, 9-3 SE from 1999 for cheap and it's somehow in good condition even for those 650 dollars I gave for it. Only things I will have to get fixed (but you can drive with it) are unstable idle and some leaking from the turbo lubrication so I am hoping it is just loose. And I suspect that the previous owner did some mods because it has hard cut limiter and a bit of turbo flutter, I don"t know if this model has it in stock or not
