  • We use 18-Day Shivansh Fertilizer to enrich our land at ALL of our farms in India.
    Thousands of piles have been made by our team in villages throughout India, to teach small plot farmers to get reliable, organic crop yields. Farmers have seen the same abundant results on their own infertile crop land as we have.
    To get an idea of what our crops yields are like, please follow us on social media.

    Machines can do a lot of work but where are they going to get the money to buy these items if nobody has a job. The company has created jobs for those people and I can see from the video they are all very happy to be working on the farm rather than being unemployed with a Masters degree.

    The system we use in Canada is 3 bins together and moving the material from one to another bin. This fence material seems high, would it not be easier at 122 cm, this one looks to be 152 cm. Make it a little more user friendly, after all turning a pile is a bit of work for most folk. That compost is like gold to me 👍. Great job on educating people.

    • @SimplyDBee
      @SimplyDBee Před 3 lety

      What kind of bins do you use? Plastic or metal? Did you drill holes on the side? I would love to know more about what you did.

    • @Borneodaya
      @Borneodaya Před 3 lety

      @@SimplyDBee Similar to what you are doing. You want to get air into the center of the pile. Stand a 4 inch pvc pipe or what ever kind of material it's made from in the center. Make sure your pipe is perferated. Wet the pile slightly and cover it wit a tarp, you want to keep the rain off.

    • @Borneodaya
      @Borneodaya Před 3 lety +1

      The way I do it now since moving to Borneo, is to make a trech and bury it. It decomposes in a shorter time frame. Also won't find any venomous snakes in my pile.🐍

      Where are you located?

    • @SimplyDBee
      @SimplyDBee Před 3 lety

      @@Borneodaya I'm in the Caribbean. I'm now going to start using some metal bins to try a different way. What I have done in the past was to make piles and leave it to rot. I see the general comments about the amount of work that went into this composting method in this video. I , too, am looking for an easier method. I think I just set up enough bins and leave them to rot as I use municipal grass clippings, rabbit manure and urine, cardboard, shredded paper and food waste, I have a decent flow of compost. What do you think?
      I'll definitely try to get something in the middle as you stated to get air flow within the pile.

    I remember using a similar technique popularized by Sir Albert Howard. They called it the Indore method. I chipped up 60 bags of leaves and made beautiful compost in a short time. I think normally figured 2 weeks.
    I like this technique because with the covering you keep the nutrients more contained. Mine had steam going off, and I lost nutrients that way. A very thorough video. Not sure of temp. I tried not going over 120°. I do remember sifting and mixing with my fork as they did. That was a dance all to itself.
    Happy composting, everyone!!

      Thank you for your appreciation of our work. Decomposition occurs most rapidly during the thermophilic stage of composting (40-65°C), which
      lasts for several weeks depending on the size of the system and the composition of the ingredients. This stage is important for destroying heat sensitive pathogens, fly larvae and other pests, and weed
      seeds. These compost pests, pathogens and weed seeds survive the thermophilic stage by moving to the periphery of the pile or becoming dormant. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that
      to achieve a significant reduction of pathogens during composting, the compost should be maintained at minimum operating conditions of 40°C for five days, with temperatures exceeding 55°C for at least four hours of this period. Most species of microorganisms cannot survive at temperatures above 60-65°C, so compost managers turn or aerate their systems to bring the temperature down if they begin to get this hot.

    Good effort for kitchen/terrace gardens. This cannot be done at commercial scale unless you have an army of people or you use a JCB. To enrich the compost you can use gliricidia leaves, bone meal powder. Also I would not turn the compost too many times as it would disturb the microbial activity and too much of temperature ups and downs to the pile.
    Additionally, waste decomposer ( National Centre of Organic Farming (NCOF) developed)bacteria solution could be used instead of plain water to speed up the breakdown process.
