Audio's fine, here (North West England). And Good Luck with that tyre claim, Sam!!! Very similar happened to me and I too took perilous photos at the roadside, spent several hours compiling the notes/photos and uploading to my local Authority's (terrible) Claim Site. About 6 weeks later I got a letter from their claims lawyers (somewhere in London and probably terribly overpaid and charging the Council a fortune). They were the legal arm of a company based in Zurich... who, after many weeks, acknowledged my claim and asked me to decribe what happened... again (even though they should have received the details from the original submission on my Local Council site!)... That was about August last year (now Jan, 2024)... and it's all gone completely quiet. Nothing! I don't think I can afford to spend any more time on chasing it... and the annoying thing is, that those overpaid lawyers (and the Council) are probably betting on this, so, like you, I'm down about £100 for the tyre, the time spent at the Tyre place, time taking photos, time... time...etc, etc... Grrr!! I sincerely hope you get something out of it! Good Luck!
I don't have high hopes Martyn but I will gain some satisfaction from the knowledge that some grey loss-adjuster or whoever will waste at least a couple of minutes over my claim. The local council states in big letters that it has a very high percentage track record of defending such claims - on the same page that it's welcoming you to start your claims process. Lol. I'll definitely let you know if by some miracle they cough up.
Hey Sam 👋 is it possible that the American strats are fretted before the finish is applied thinking that the fret seated against the unfinished fretboard is sonically better then seating the fret on the finish? Your faithful subscriber Ronnie.
It's a good idea Ronnie... I could just imagine a Professor of Tonewood arguing that (instead of admitting that it's just cost-saving that makes them do it that way!)
Can you tell me what size dome nuts you use? and is there a practical reason for using brass nuts instead of stainless steel?
I think they were M4 or M3… just need to fit between strings and the tops slightly above the strings. No testing for brass other than that’s what I found first. Stainless would be better if you can get them.
Im not getting any audio
My memory is failing me...doughnuts.
I only buy and play MIM and MIA Fenders the whole Japanese made thing is Rubbish
I've worked on and played a ton of great MIJ / CIJ guitars. And from a tech point of view I fear their finish issues a lot less than MIA and MIM.
For the flexable shim for the nut, I found that wood veneer tester packs you can get for a couple of quid are good and of course are thin so easy to layer. you can get quite a few shims out of them.
