  • Full build ,painting and weathering tutorial of Takom's 1/16 scale 1/4 Ton G503 MB Willy's Jeep.
    The G503 MB Utility Truck is a small four-wheel-drive vehicle that started development at the request of the U.S. Army in 1940, and entered battle in 1941. This model kit of an iconic vehicle from Takom includes an M2 heavy machine gun, and the wheels rotate; the front wheels are steerable after assembly as well.

    I used to own a Willys MB and watching this I recognized all of the parts I used to work on. Incredible detail. It could be a training aid for the jeep mechanics. Beauty bro.

    I'm almost done with mine.
    I really like this kit...for the price, it's a wonderful value.
    If something bothers you about the kit ...be a modeler and make it better.
    Every piece needs clean up and dressing but after that, they fit very well.

    Simply stunning build! Love the attention to detail, I just bought this kit on a local auction as I'm looking to convert it to a "Rat Patrol" version.
    Thanks for sharing!

    I'm currently building this gem... just about at the firewall section. It's a really great kit. Everything is so clean and well molded and fits quite nicely.

    Nicely done indeed! My advice, if you really want a final touch to set such amazing work off, is to either ditch the kit M2 and replace it with a Tamiya M2, or grab the Aber detail kit and get stuck in with that. Amongst other systems, I worked on and around those M2s for years and very seldom does the colour of the parkerising on the barrel (usually near black) match the parkerising on the gun body and front barrel bearing/cooling jacket (usually a slightly green tinged gunmetal). The Tamiya M2 has a separate barrel plus detailed bolt top and feed pawls on the top cover, and given how prominent that M2 is will make a huge difference if you want to avoid the brass detail kit from Aber. I'll look forward to your follow-up video.

      Thanks for your comments 🙂. I'm doing a Trumpeter M16 1/16 scale and it actually has better M2,s than the Takom.

      @@sierrahobbys1883 I'm going to do a video review shortly of the 1/16th scale M2s from various kits. So far the Tamiya M2 is still king, in my humble opinion, but the Trumpeter M2s in the M16 multiple gun carriage are very good too.

    A good video of the build. I bought this kit for a Christmas project but I have only got to stage 1 and i am rather disappointed. The chassis builds up to be a completely boxed structure whereas the real chassis has "C" section rails with boxing at strategic places. Also the spring hangers are all solid whereas they are open structures on the real jeep. I think on a kit of this scale and price there should be more detail. I have already started cutting things about to increase the level of detail. Its actually fun to do but it is all about kit expectations to me.

      😊 Thanks. There are a lot of things you can do on this kit,but no matter how much details you add there will always be details that you will not have. Overall it's still a very impressive kit.

      Great video and beautiful build. This is my first model in many years so I’m learning. I’m struggling a little bit on when to paint before gluing certain parts. How do you glue painted parts? I tried this and certain areas like putting on the fenders and the paint wouldn’t take the glue. I had to disassemble and scrape the paint off areas for glue, but you don’t seem to have that problem. I look forward to hearing your advice. Thx

    • @sierrahobbys1883
      @sierrahobbys1883  Před rokem +1

      @@stevewedeen5958 Thanks 😊 for your comments. Most of the part were glued before painting and the smaller detail parts that were glued and painted separately I used Migs "Slow Dry cyanocrylate glue". I find this is stronger than other super glues. And it allows you more time to manoeuvre the parts. Some parts, larger you still need to sand of a bit where the glue will be placed.
      Cheers 🍻
