    Rest In Peace Phil..
Will always remember the days watching you kicking over them posts in Felinfoel Park whatever the weather..
I would sit there for hours and watch you, then walk home.
One minute on the Foel Park the next on the International stage and you never changed.
My absolute sporting hero and local hero.
My condolences and love to Pat and the family..
Say hello to your Mum n Dad for me.. Mary and Bob... Wonderful neighbours for many years

I was lucky enough to watch Cardiff in the 70s, but I'd totally forgotten the name Alex Finlayson until watching this. There was another centre Peter Lyn Jones... or PLJ as he was called due to there being a PLJ (Pure Lemon Juice) on the market at the time. John Scott (English) Nº 8. Stuart Lane, Trevor Worgan, Barry Nelmes. Alan Phillips, Chris Camilleri, Ian 'Robbo' Robinson... who was a second row who would make Bakkies Botha look like Dale Winton... and a couple of other players called Gareth Edwards and Gerald Davies...I wonder what happened to them? Phil Bennett was the epitome of Welsh rugby in the 70s... he wasn't very big, but he had a natural ability to beat people either by stepping past them, or passing to someone else who could. I am sad for the loss to his family, but thankful for the enjoyment he brought to a several million Welsh and British rugby fans.

that story has sent the great Gareth Edwards down in my estimation somewhat - rugby shouldn't need to resort to sledging tactics - especially a week before Wales would have needed Grav in the best possible form to play for Wales.
