    i'm happy to see that the ny islanders finally got the proper arena they need to generate and compete with today's nhl economics. wishing their fans and the organization all the best.
    cheers from southern ontario 🍁

      Plus Steven this new arena at the landmark Belmont Park has mass transit access unlike the old arena. So Isles fans especially in NYC without cars, can now use a Suburban Train. FYI. That LIRR (Long Island Railroad) Main terminal in NYC is strangely enough on the same property as Madison Square Garden.

      @@americangiant1003 that's great to hear that the UBS arena is accessible by transit. from what i understand, nassau coliseum was not transit friendly and was primarily accessible by car.
      the biggest reason i'm glad that nyi is turning it around is it would have been a shame to see the islanders have left for kansas city years ago. charles wang meant well but unfortunately couldn't realize his vision. fortunately with owners ledecky and malkin, they were able to provide the resources and get the support needed with the politicians to make ubs a reality. and i'm glad UBS will retain many of the positive features of nassau with the 93 ft vs 90 ft low ceiling, and intimate seating arrangement.
      as a detroit fan 1st and tampa fan 2nd (because of yzerman's involvement with tampa) i have really enjoyed seeing the ny islanders improve since 2018 (when ironically tavares left and gm lamoriello came in). the last 2 yrs you guys have given tampa the most problems in the playoffs. if the lightning can't win it this year ( i don't think tampa will win the cup but i hope i'm wrong lol) i would like to see the islanders win the cup. you guys were so close last year - i really think that if anders lee was available he could have been the x-factor for your offence. especially losing 1-0 on a SHG in game 7.
      watching especially games 6 (@ nassau) vs boston and tampa on tv really brought back intense 1980's feelings 💙 for me. the energy and fan involvement🔥 , the lighting of the arena, it was just something that i'll never forget. especially the last 2 minutes vs boston as the nyi ran out the clock and got 2 EN scores, you could feel the excitement all the way from long island to southern ontario. at least for me, as i am a serious hardcore fan. maybe not so much here in southern ontario because it's maple leafs country lol 😉
      i see right now nyi is going thru some injuries with pulock, etc. just stay the course, take advantage of all the home games coming up and get a decent p-off seeding, and try to stay as injury-free as possible come april 2022. again, wishing nyi and their fans all the best in 2022 and the many years ahead. with a proper arena, better transit access and a competitive team, plus good ownership, there is now no excuse for the islanders and their fans to have poor attendance like they did for many years. and please keep the uniforms as-is - no dumb redesigns or idiots fishsticks jerseys. the jerseys as-is are clean, pristine and represent the past with an eye towards the future,
      i'm expecting big things from the islanders this upcoming playoffs!! 💙🧡🤍
      cheers from southern ontario 🍁

The current Madison Square Garden was agreed upon to be built over Penn Station after,or as part of, the renovation of Penn Station,which took place from 1965-68,with the current MSG opening in February of '68,after being on 49th Street and 8th Avenue for over 40 years

    The best part is UBS is only 17 to 20 minutes away from the Nassu Coliseum. So they didn’t have to move far away from the county. The islanders deserved this arena very badly; and you no longer have that weird half stadium with the car at Barclays Center. UBS looks like a genuine hockey arena. Take care of it islanders.

      Nightshade best of all it serves Islanders fans who live in both Long Island, NY(Nassau and Suffolk County) and NYC at the Belmont Park Racetrack site which borders the City and Long Island. Plus the busy Commuter train the Long Island Railroad also built a new station stop so fans from NYC without cars can now attend the game. Only about 30 minutes to either NY Penn Station/Madison Square Garden and sometime in the new year of 2022 service to the historic Grand Central Terminal as well.

      @@stevep8445 The location of this new arena for the Islanders is an excellent choice that hopefully they can stay at for the next 35-40 years or even more. Still technically in Long Island where the majority of their fan base is. While at the same time solves the problem for their fan base living in NYC proper who don’t have cars with the new Long Island Railroad stop within walking distance as well.

    • @henrymanzano9168
      @henrymanzano9168 Před 2 lety

      Barclays Center,at the time,was necessary because it was the only way they could stay in the area,after Nassau County taxpayers voted no on the County footing $400M towards a new arena in Uniondale. Charles Wang and the other owners put up $600M for it. Instead, Nassau Coliseum was beautifully renovated,but lost seating capacity,and was under the NHL-required minimum. It would've been nice if the league made an exception for the Isles,given the history and significance of the Coliseum to the Islanders,their fans,and the League. Still,the new "barn",or "stable" is an awesome looking place- VERY worthy of an NHL team,and one of the League's strongest fan bases

      Now the Coyotes are going to be moving to Salt Lake City after this season is over. I feel really bad for you guys in AZ. One terrible ownership group after another. Blew through many coaches and general managers. But the biggest problem was that they didn’t win consistently. 9 playoff appearances in 27 years and they only won 2 series when they made it to the conference finals in 2012 and lost to Los Angeles who then went on to win the championship. Hockey definitely could’ve worked in Arizona but the terrible owners and so much losing was what did them in.
