Ningen Isu really deserve so much more love than they have. They only had their fist tour outside Japan a couple years ago when they played I think in Germany and the UK. I would love to see them come to the US one day. But if not, I'm gonna have to find a way to see them live in Japan.😅
If you want to keep reacting to more of their music, I would recommend:
    - Heartless Scat (their most viewed song on CZcams)
    - Namahage
    - Life For Sale
    - The Color Out of Space
    - Baptism
    - Toshishun
    - Great King of Terror
    - Ghost Train
    - Voice of Nothing
    - Love Nirvana
All of these songs have MVs on that are easy to find on CZcams
These songs don't have MVs but have good live performances:
    - At The Mountains of Madness (人間椅子 / 狂気山脈) Live 2016
    - Chou-nouryoku ga Atta nara (LIVE) 人間椅子/超能力があったなら
    - Hell's Mountain Of Needles (live) - this is cover of Breadfan by Budgie, but with completely original lyrics
    - Odoru Issunboushi (Live in Tokyo 2014) 人間椅子 - 踊る一寸法師
These lists aren't in any particular order and there have plenty of other great songs, these are just my personal recommendations for stuff to star with.
Great reaction! And I hope you keep enjoying Ningen Isu!

I kind of feel the same way - I may have to go to Japan to see them, but I want to see them! LOL
Looks like you are a Californian? Your YT tag makes me think you may be... Possibly a Dodger's fan as well. :-)

Definitely a good start listed. There is a lot to listen to from these guys with well over 20 albums out.

We have Uncle Fester, a Elvis lookalike and a lead guitarist that reminds me of my grandfather. But boy do they rock, the guitarist is a monster. Loved it

LOL! We have maids (Band Maid), princesses (Lovebites), anime superheroes (BabyMetal), and a banshee (Nemophila), so why not! :-)
      I love this band! LOL
Thank you for the laugh and the comment!

Yeah, they are bad a$$. 🤘🤘. Formed in 1987, so you get the Sabbath and other old school influences. They've only recently started gaining popularity worldwide.
Stage persona's of a Meiji-era literary master, a Buddhist Monk, and a Yakuza style gangster. Heard some songs, but not a lot yet. Only other song I know by name is "Heartless Scat".

  • @Wirmish

A monk (bass), a Yakuza (drums), and a traditional teacher (guitar).

Japanese Rock has depths that Europe and America really need to explore. There's a lot going on over there. If you take the plunge, you'll find everything from the idiosyncratically oriental sounding to the brilliantly melodic that you'll find unforgettably catchy. Japanese artist really want to break through to Western Audiences and really enjoy touring outside Japan. Ningen Isu, X Japan, and Band-Maid have toured abroad.
Ningen Isu has always been a power trio. Bassist Ken-ichi Suzuki, who was a theology student when Ningen Isu was formed in the '80s, has regularly costumed himself as a Buddhist Monk, while guitarist Shinji Wajima has costumed himself as a Meiji Era literary scholar. Oddly enough Wajima collects vintage Suzuki motorcycles. Newest member, drummer Nobu Nakajima who joined in 2004, dresses as a Yakuza.

This song was totally amazing. 🎶💜🎶
I loved the lyrics, intrumentation and the vocalists tone and timber.
I sure wish I had never seen the video because those Burning Eyeball Buddhas were very, very, creepy.
Will need to work to get that image out of my psyche.🙄☹️
I was also shocked that not only have I heard nothing from this band but I have never even read a comment suggesting it.😱 I have read thousands and thousands of comments on Metal channels. 30 years😱 WoW.
Great song, great band, great review.
    🤘🔥🤘

Ningen Isu is great! My main suggestion would be to turn on closed caption when you can, their most popular videos have translations. Only this newer Farewell to the World has them built in to the video which is a welcome change! Their lyrics are often quite deep. I'd suggest Namahage, Colour out of Space, and Toshishun as good entry level for them.

Also, the bass player was a big fan of KISS and takes some of his inspiration for his expressiveness from them.

Thanks for finding your way to Ningen Isu. You've got good recommendations for them in other comments, but I will second the recommendation for At the Mountains of Madness. An 11-minute epic live performance. One of the songs where they take inspiration from HP Lovecraft.
One other Japanese band you may want to add to your list is Onmyo-za. Been around close to 25 years, 16 albums, they take inspiration from Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, among others. Their song Haou is a good start for those knowledgeable in the ways of Metal (search for 'Onmyo-za - Haou (LIVE) 1080p60" for a good video)

Ningen Isu is pronounced with a hard g (like in "go"), like you did the second time at the end. It means Human (人間, Ningen) Chair (椅子, Isu). I have no clue where the name comes from.

    • @teddyoso87
      @teddyoso87 Před 6 měsíci +4

The name is taken from a story by Ranpo Edogawa, from whom they have taken direct influence for their lyrics, in addition to other Japanese poets and novelists, or from abroad such as H.P. Lovecraft.
