Ok I figured it's time to leave this comment because so many of the comments are repeats of the same questions. First off, I have done this drop both before and after this video, without incident. I was just having a bad day here and figured I'd post it for the entertainment. I still watch this regularly and can't stop laughing at it. Next: No, I am not trying to hop off the end and badly misjudging it. There is a ramp jump up onto the drop platform and that is what I am 'hopping' off of. What happened: The run up to this drop is slightly uphill so you really have to crank to get enough speed. I was simply not going fast enough. I lost my momentum on the jump, and the drop platform is too short to get it back. I was going down no matter what. If I had tried to jam on the brakes I would have also gone otb from much higher up. Obviously I was slightly concussed and this led to me missing the fact that my handlebars had gone slightly out of alignment with my front tire on the impact. Not catching this led to the second crash. Jumping up on to the ramp, I landed with my handlebars straight, which meant that the front tire wasn't. Bam, off the bike the instant it landed on the drop platform. This time when the bike hit the ground, the front plate of my stem popped off leaving the handlebars free floating, and I lost a few of the bolts. I's probably a good thing this happened, because I probably would have gone for a third time if the bike was still intact. 🤣🤣 I'm fine and still ride every week. I don't post as much anymore because I don't have a gopro, so it's hard to set up for a shot, and they'd just all be duplicates of what I've already posted. Stay safe out there! 🤟
This needs to get 1million views. Seriously, this is the best mtb video on CZcams right now. It just says so much about why us normal guys ride. Not because we're good, not because we can "send it", not because we have the best tutorials, but simply because it captures the essence of "getting back up and doing it again for the love of the ride".
He is risking his life. I know of four people who have broken their necks mountain biking - one died. This guy needs to take instruction and only do small drops until he knows what the hell he is doing. I have never seen such miserable technique in my life.
@@AndrewUnruh Thats what I thought at first, but if you look closer there is a small gap he is trying to hop on the takeoff before the drop. Still better technique is needed, but that gap is why it looks like he is popping early
If this was normality, MTB would be illegal by now 😂 Normal people ride for a long time because they make it so they don’t waste themselves, at least not this quick 😂😂😂 But yeah, they guy gotta love ridin’, just doesn’t think much about his future 😂
Huge admiration for your humility in sharing this footage. Thought your collarbone was done after that first one honestly, amazed you went back straight after for a second go. Massive respect my man
he only has two options, or he's falling wanting to fall have a head problem due to lack of understanding the pulling time and shouldn't be jumping with the bike
Mind blowing perseverance! Wobbly knees after the first hopefully-once-in-a-lifetime crash would have indicated to me that it’s time for a break. But I waited it out and sure enough your massive balls had you hitting the drop again. I hope you didn’t get hurt too bad. Thank you for sharing! Go get a beer!
Carry a bit of speed when you ride towards the edge, just as your front wheel is about to go off, push your bike slightly forward (this motion will transfer weight to the rear wheel while making your front wheel dip significantly less. Dont tense up, keep your knees bent and get ready to absorb the landing. Once you get this technique down it will become super easy to do these.
Dude, that IS the best way to do It for begginers! Forget pop and manuals. I would only add to slowly increase the height. Start small with the right body movement and increase gradually.
By no means am I some type of Drop Master, but if you have to jump onto that Drop to begin with, you might want to skip that Drop. Go to something that is a flat roll on, so your only focus is positioning for the drop itself. I do respect the commitment though. That first spill looked painful, my old ass would've probably stopped there if that happened to me.
agreed. it definitely looks like there is something sketchy in the lead up to that drop. that would definitely be a "mind f*uck" for me. when I'm learning a new feature I need it to be as simple as possible!
So, the first crash I felt like I was watching myself, except you got up a lot faster than I would have. Then after the second I started to wonder if you were a stuntman doing some training! Way to keep trying and hope you weren't injured!
No fucking way. Lol the wobble while standing up slowly. The silent walking back up the hill disappearing into the forest. The second try and land straight into your face is comedy gold. Lmao
Total respect for you dude! After crashing like that it takes quite a bit to stand up and do it again. But that’s how you do it, especially in gravity and action sports. Check your technique and you‘ll send it! 🤘
I have to give you props for showing that crash and getting right back at it man. Not many people will show the crash. Mine is coming. I can feel it in my old tired bones, but seeing you get back at it from a fall like that drives my confidence up.
This is not courage, commitment, or “balls”. It’s stupidity. The top is clearly way above the level of the rider, something he should have learned after the first crash. How’s that dying go? The definition of insanity…?
I love that this community is so supportive and first acknowledging the massive stones he has to post and getting right back on that horse. You’ll get it bud, follow the advise here and keep going!
Man hope you were ok and A plus for the willingness to try again. During the first crash I was like ohhh damn and cringing, when you crashed the 2nd time I was laughing myself out of my chair.
Same hear tears are coming out my eyes never mind his eyes that was funny as fuck i really though he would cleared it on the 2nd attempt that caught me so off guard
Dude respect for trying again. Honestly respect. Maybe I would or someone would have smiled after knowing you were ok in passing but after seeing your effort. Respect
Oh dude my hats off to u mad props on the second try progression is a painful process u got the right attitude something I try to remind myself is about F.A.I.L when I mess up ...(and I do alot)First. Attempt. In. Learning.
Well done for keeping on trying. Looks like there’s some sort of gap or another drop just before the one we can see which is making it difficult. Good man for getting back up but I’d recommend you ride with someone just in case something goes wrong!
yeah, I'm curious as well as to what the obstacle is on the leadup to the edge of that drop. it looks like that is what is throwing him off from getting set properly. I'm a beginner and can't do drops yet, but I'm trying them out when I can so this is a video is terrifying in a premonition sort of way!
Dude I ate dirt the other day too lol, It was the first time I ever tried a drop over 12 inches. That's awesome you kept going. I didn't try again but I did keep riding after.
total sympathy! I had the exact same fall a month ago. Fortunately, I had protections because my cervical vertebrae made a big "craackkk!" and my knee is still swollen in dept of the protection in D30. respect Jeff!
I've never wanted to give a dude a hug before... bad to the bone how shook it off with the stars and coocoo birds still circling your head and went straight back at it! Thats some real sack brother! Should have been a bull rider!
I fell just like that in 2011. I was fine, just a headache. I didn't want to ride the rest of the day. But you jumped it again, you're man of a steel dude...
Dude! I miss you. This is epic. True courage is not the absence of fear, it is faithful action in the midst of fear. You got back on the bike and jumped again. True courage. Hope you are doing well, my friend.
Wooow man, looked painful! KUDOS for getting up and trying again, but I think its smart to start off smaller to get the hang of it before sending big drops.
🤣😂this is soo mee...this is funny in a way but very dangerous as you can hurt yourself pretty bad trying these drops and jumps...I was this guy at some point...eager to jump or drop but couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and there i would stumble and fall would get angry at my self for not being able to and would keep on trying ...then it clicked to me ...YOU PRELOAD THE SUSPENSION RIGHT WHEN YOU'RE ON IT ....NOT BEFORE ,NOT AFTER, BUT RIGHT WHILE ON IT ,JUMP OR DROP ..once I did that I felt like I had just made biggest accomplishment ever ..felt like I want it to keep jumping .keep on going
Salute the courage and commitment. I felt if you maintain a bit more momentum, you might be able to jumb and land in straight line and can clear the drop uninjured. Best of luck next time. Also practice preload and bunny hop on flat surface first. cheers
Why does he look like he's on the surface of Jupiter with how fast he falls? I have repeated the video dozens of times and I'm still impressed how he drops like a rock Also the fact he goes for a second drop is both admirable and hilarious 😂
Glad you survived both of those. Really with that technique you will end up in the ER. I'm impressed with your determination but please buy some armour, a full face helmet and a few lessons. I can see you on A-Line one day!
I also can’t do drops this big, but at least I know it. When your bike can probably do the drop without your ass on the saddle it is time to go for a smaller drop. That aside, very entertaining and hope you are ok. Thanks.
As far as I can tell this is not a standard drop: seems like there's a ramp with a small gap to a platform that he is dropping off. Hence, he has to jump from the ramp to the platform. In scenarios like these you need enough speed that you clear the gap with little effort and are centered on the platform to continue on to the drop. If you go too slow you end up making the thing too many individual parts where if you aren't aligned at each step you compound your errors. IF the setup is not what I envision then the rider is doing some needless theatrics before he reaches the end platform to do the drop. Actually with more viewing it's clear the setup is as I originally thought. You can see the sunlit gap between the two sections, and when he jumps from the ramp to the platform you can see his shadow passing over that sunlit gap.
RAG DOLL, RAG DOLL . You got it figured out. A small jump up onto a short table drop is no easy feat. I have been there and i am sorry i did have a good laugh.

I’m totally impressed that after crashing you did it again, that is awesome discipline. Way to hang in there!
Dedication*
But also sit down for a bit dude 🤣
Yup appreciate you brushing it off and going after it again. Only way to learn
Can ya imagine if he's STILL out there crash every time!!? Lolwtf
Agree, the easy thing is to go home and try another day
Be safe out there so you can enjoy a lifetime of riding. Also, your courage demands that you wear a full face helmet.

Yeah, and he's timing his pop way, way too early and then just riding off the end. Ouchiesville
Look closer, it’s a gap then a drop.
@@OutdoorsDIYBuilds same technique, just more speed
@@OutdoorsDIYBuilds thank you, i was going to ask why it seemed he was jumping before the drop... looks like that gap was throwing him off track....

didnt have the balls to get up again though... on account that they were both smashed to bits.
