The weight of it all probably never got to him until after he realized how much he cares for Theon. Yes, it's going to cause problems for them, but I think Leshy trying to do, and be better for him won't be brushed off.
There's actually another comic where I think Leshy picked up bartending to possibly get Theon befuddled enough that the news wouldn't hurt as much, but Theon kissed him and made Leshy chicken out (possibly because it was their first kiss but idk about that)

Question, in game once getting the bishops as followers do they age? Mine dont have the immortality perk and i gave leshy the golden skul just incase
WAY slower than followers with the regular skull necklace, but yes. And yes they do die from it

Only Narinder can never age by default. Even his kits can age.
