My sister got rid of her dusty by pretending she had to move. She moved all her furniture out, put it in storage and moved in with our mother for a month. She then moved all her furniture back in. Never looked back!
When I was younger, I had a live in boyfriend that it didn't work out with....but he refused to move out. He was not on the lease. One day when he was at his mom's I had me and my brother pack all his stuff and put it in storage. Then I changed the locks. I sent him a text saying, "All of your things are at (blank) storage, (blank) unit number. You have 30 days to get your things out of there. You can get the key from my brother, there is no longer a reason for us to speak " You have to weigh your options. Yes there are tenants rights but most people won't waste their time and money suing you (especially if broke).
I am not proud of these mistakes but I learned valuable lessons. Later on, I was engaged to a man who seemed very eager to take on the provider role. I made it very clear if we had a child together I would not work (at least not full time). Long story short, I did not even move in with this man. We did not start making plans to move in together until our child was conceived shortly after our wedding. He changed completely, and threatened to destroy all of my hopes and dreams because I set firm boundaries when he started being emotionally abusive. I put a stop to us moving in together even though we were married and expecting a child. ( I also had children from previous relationships to protect). The point I want the ladies to take away from this is that I thank God he never moved in with me, because once a man moves in with you (especially if married), it is really hard to get them out if they want to force their way staying in your space. It would have been a nightmare to have to live with emotional abuse while courts decide who needs to leave. This is why it is important to keep separate places of residence until you are very comfortable with a man, even if married! This is why I agree with Shera's advice on not making any exclusive commitments until a man has FULLY proven himself with his actions. She is so right. You can live with family if young or if you want your own place, you can pay and not have the B.S. I am not big into the game that Shera speaks of, but I see how the ideas can and should be applied to any woman in a relationship. I have had someone pay my rent before to keep me from moving to another city, and this man wasn't even in love with me. I have learned that if you hold people to higher standards they will meet your standards if they want you in their life.

I was in a physically and emotionally abusive marriage and listening to Shera and friends (Ms. Mikki, OutThere2017, Chrissie, Tonya TKO) helps me heal so much. The best thing that you can do is forgive yourself. You probably normalized the abuse, thinking it was okay because you did not know any better. At least that's what it was in my case. But now that you know better, you will do better. Just keep on keeping on. Put your best foot forward every time you leave the house. Be the best version of you that you can be. I am single and celibate now. I am not actively looking for a relationship. My focus is my own life and happiness. That being said, since I have made myself more attractive, I get approached by men without even trying. At each approach, I ask myself: how can this man benefit my life? You have to weigh your options. Yes there are tenants rights but most people won't waste their time and money suing you (especially if broke).
I am not proud of these mistakes but I learned valuable lessons. Later on, I was engaged to a man who seemed very eager to take on the provider role. I made it very clear if we had a child together I would not work (at least not full time). Long story short, I did not even move in with this man. We did not start making plans to move in together until our child was conceived shortly after our wedding. He changed completely, and threatened to destroy all of my hopes and dreams because I set firm boundaries when he started being emotionally abusive. I put a stop to us moving in together even though we were married and expecting a child. ( I also had children from previous relationships to protect). The point I want the ladies to take away from this is that I thank God he never moved in with me, because once a man moves in with you (especially if married), it is really hard to get them out if they want to force their way staying in your space. It would have been a nightmare to have to live with emotional abuse while courts decide who needs to leave. This is why it is important to keep separate places of residence until you are very comfortable with a man, even if married! This is why I agree with Shera's advice on not making any exclusive commitments until a man has FULLY proven himself with his actions. She is so right. You can live with family if young or if you want your own place, you can pay and not have the B.S.
I am not big into the game that Shera speaks of, but I see how the ideas can and should be applied to any woman in a relationship. I have had someone pay my rent before to keep me from moving to another city, and this man wasn't even in love with me. I have learned that if you hold people to higher standards they will meet your standards if they want you in their life.

I think I became a pick me once I started hanging out with 2 women who were jealous of me and they would convince me that something was wrong with me because I had game and was “manipulative” in their eyes. But I dropped them and I am back to myself.

The best thing that you can do is forgive yourself. You probably normalized the abuse, thinking it was okay because you did not know any better. At least that's what it was in my case. But now that you know better, you will do better.
Just keep on keeping on. Put your best foot forward every time you leave the house. Be the best version of you that you can be. I am single and celibate now. I am not actively looking for a relationship. My focus is my own life and happiness. That being said, since I have made myself more attractive, I get approached by men without even trying.
At each approach, I ask myself: how can this man benefit my life? If he can't, then get out of my face. Is his treatment of me makes me feel celebrated, cherished, spoiled, and protected? If no, then get out of my face.
