    Thanks for taking us on your hike of Power Island. My old office was on the bay in Traverse. I looked at this island for 18 years and always wanted to see it.

    Holy crap! That's an Icon A5 amphibious plane! I've done exactly what he's doing (virtually) so many times now, just wishing I had one of those.

    In the 1960s I lived there in Traverse City. We did a lot of trolling for lake trout around that island. Saw some big fish, didn't catch many though!

    Getting old isn’t for wimps. I can’t tent camp anymore, either. Back just won’t take it. I love that you Geocache! I opened my Geocaching account in 2003. It’s been a while since Horsewomann and Team Hamster (all Ham radio operators) went out for some finds.

    Cool vid, It’s a shame a group or someone hasn’t done basic trail maintenance… Would love to visit it.

    • @RestlessViking
      @RestlessViking  Před 3 lety +1

      The good news is, they are back at maintenance. The trails weren’t maintained at the time because the campground was closed (due to COVID), but I believe they are back open and doing maintenance again.

    Those "chipmunk poles" might be for black squirrels. At the state park in Traverse City the black squirrels are really vicious.

    • @ScottSwan
      @ScottSwan Před rokem

      The poles are mainly for the raccoons.

    So much for the posted signs and caution tape. 🤣 You look surprisingly comfortable (and natural) wearing a skirt.

      And what a kayak it was rolling seas, breakers, high winds and a bunch of miles.
