No, i am disagree with u to add water to wash karela, this made my sabji extra, extra bitter.and no matter so much extra gud i added ,it didn't change it's bitterness, no one ate my kareleki sabji.😢
You were supposed to add salt and leave it for few minutes and then wash it nicely. - see the description if in doubt - Take 400 gm Karela (Bitter Gourd) Slightly remove skin & cut into slices Add some salt to it and mix with hands Leave for 10 min then rinse well and drain the water

U should eat karela with its bitterness. We should not put salt n remove water
Then what's the point if one cannot eat it. By doing this process we still are retaining some bitterness but not fully.
