    Jackson is soo compassionate. Just love that lil guy. You can tell that he's taking it all in, and as long as our kids do that, it will keep history from repeating itself.

    Thank you for not editing Jackson's emotions out. Soon there will be a generation of children born who won't know the grandparents who lived through a portion of segregation in United States. As we know many states around the U.S are trying to remove the teaching of African American History. What you guys captured in your trip while in Birmingham is an example of how and why it should be taught.

    When Jackson broke down, I lost it! My parents and grandparents are from Montgomery and Birmingham, and they participated in the Civil Rights Movement and experienced hell!

      Jackson is something special. I remember he cried like that when his parents first told him and his cousin what slavery was. Jackson sobbed and sobbed at the shock and horror of it all. He’s beautiful.

    I am a young black woman and proud to be so. Watching this episode and seeing Jackson's heart made me appreciate even more my heritage and the things my grandparents and parents went through. Thanks for sharing with the boys at a young age just how powerful they already are.

    I just wanna say this was amazing. Always love seeing y’all create memories with the boys but most of all teaching them along the way. They will grow to be amazing men. Now Jackson of course got me to cry. I like that he’s in tune with his feelings and emotions. Now Devale you know Jackson expects to be great at it all, he’s an Ellis.

      Jackson is brilliant in intelligence and in emotion. His parents said he scores in the top top percentile at school in intelligence and he’s also sharply aware of his own emotions, of the emotion of the room, and he understands and feels words and hypothetical circumstances deeply. It will be a blessing to see where this takes him. Jackson is a gift.

    Omg! Im from Birmingham Al and I walked thru that museum for school when I was attending UAB. When Jackson cried I literally lost it. He is so wise and understanding and I absolutely LOVE the way you parent those boys and they will never forget these memories and it will make them even wiser and stronger!!!❤️❤️❤️

    This was beautiful. When your baby can feel and have a real sense of empathy for the ancestors. Great experience and exposure. All the boys seemed to learn from this experience. Great job parents!!!

    Thanks for sharing your family vacation in my place of birth. Birmingham has such a rich history and its people changed the world. To think that Angela Davis and Condoleezza Rice could both be from Birmingham with such different views tells you about the complexities of our people. You're raising future leaders.

    I think it's safe to say Jackson have everyone who watch this Birmingham vacation in tears because we see he gets it at a early age most kids would look over this but it's obvious his parents are doing a great job in teaching them about there race ..great job he's gonna be a great husband and dad to his future wife

    As an Alabaman who resided in Birmingham for years, I love this. Thank you for teaching the boys this, allowing them space for emotions and showing them how far we have come. Y'all are already my favorites. This only adds to it.

    Bless you for sharing this with your children and us by extension. This was deep! Jackson gave life to how overwhelmed all of us were feeling. It was good to see a young man as your guide at that time also. Even though you can afford to give those boys everything, these living lessons are priceless. Great job Devale and Kaye. Now I'm looking forward to a summer vacation series 😂.

    This was AMAZING! This is what it had come down to, us teaching our children our history because they are trying to erase us as if it never happened. Jackson feeling what his ancestors felt was beautiful. It shows that at his early age, he had empathy and compassion. Something most young people do not have today. Great vacation.

    Jacksons reaction broke my heart. It’s definitely hard to show those hard truths to our children but it’s necessary they know the struggles and accomplishments of African Americans.

    Khadeen and Devale- thank you for sharing this with us all. So proud of how far you guys have come and this is a wonderful example of how we honor all those who paved the way for us. I pray God keeps blessing you and your family. Jackson's pure reaction melted my heart. We do it all for these precious babies...so they understand how much it took to get to where we are today. There is still work to be done but we have come so far. I also pray that your boys and all future generations never lose sight of that. What a wonderful opportunity to visit such a historic city. However, it is important, especially now as some people want to skip over a large portion of black history as it relates to what occurred in America, to teach our children history as we teach them to excel in the present and the future.     I was born in 1963 in Birmingham and seeing this video bought back memories of my childhood. My city has come a long way since then and advanced the world. I no longer live there but I just visited Bham this past weekend for a family funeral. Thank you Ellises for the wonderful video.

    I'm glad you guys came to visit my beautiful city. I came back home to Birmingham after my military retirement. One thing they didn't tell you guys is that Rickwood Field was where the black high schools played their city championship back during that time as well. It was a big event every year due to the segregation of the city. We've come a long way. Thank y'all for showing what our city has to offer. "MAGIC CITY"

    Awesome Ellis Family !!! I've educated my boys the same way here in Atlanta, by taking them to the King's Center. It was very emotional for my oldest as well. It was very humbling.

    I'm 62 years old and can remember driving from NC to NY in the summer and having to pack all the food we would eat because there may not be a place that would serve us if we stopped. This was back in the mid to late 60s so I felt Jackson's pain and am in awe of his empathy at such a young age.

    My family is from Alabama and I would return to Birmingham to visit my grandparents often. The first time I visited the Civil Rights Museum, I cried my eyes out. My grandparents and some of my aunts and uncles lived through segregation. One of my aunts knew two of the little girls who died in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. It's a museum everyone should visit.
    Also, I saw Michael Jordan play for the Birmingham Barons when he "retired" from Basketball and went to the MLB, lol.
