No your not the only one thinking thins and it a bittersweet thing it makes me happy because like you said he like “coming out of his little shell” little by little and at his own terms and he seems so happy which makes me happy but it’s sad because I feel like in this fandom before this album we were constantly talking about how much we all love and support Zayn and how excited we were/ are for when he does “come out of his shell” Nobody is Really truly listening or they are taking this fact for granted and don’t realize it. I love how he represents throught the comic a history of two shades of himself, the side of the light and the shadows and as these are persecuted, it could mean what he himself thinks happens to him with all his thoughts and problems, the negative and positive ones, but he still wants to flee.

in #2 he’s telling us this has been chasing him for a long time and the more he tries to get away from it the more it gets to him.
#3 goes with #4 so he’s saying that it’s taking him somewhere where no one will see what happens to him also where no ones sees him at all
#4 also goes with #5 which is him not knowing what it is or where it came from and in #5 it’s telling him that he created it it’s basically all in his mind and all the bad thoughts of anxiety it’s also taking over him when it says it’s time for him in the shadows and it in the light so he’s referring to anxiety and him trying to get away from it for a long time but not being able to get away😭
