It's really too bad that the Batgirl controversy is the main thing people are concerned about with this movie. This is some of Hamill's best work, and all people talk about is the stupid sex scene.
I think Bruce would disagree. It also makes me want to make a special cut of the 'sex' scene where right after it cuts away, the scene skips to when she's in the hospital and the doctor tells Batman she'll never walk again.
Same here, my good man. I could never sing it right whenever I read the graphic novel aloud to myself. I always imagined it to have a far lighter vaudeville tone than something akin to the delicious darkness of a Disney villain song and/or dramatic Broadway piece. This is better than I could have ever dreamed of.
Same here. That's always a major problem when comic book writers (And writers, in general) try to incorporate songs into their work. While I do enjoy how "delightfully demented" The Joker's lyrics are for this song in the original graphic novel, I could never figure out the right melody for the song. Thanks to this movie, I'll always think of this version of the song every time I read "The Killing Joke." XD
The funniest thing is he did this in the comic too, he paralyzed someone’s daughter, took her clothes off (and possibly assaulted her it really depends on when the continuity takes place and dcs policy on that at any given time though even the act of doing that is assault), kidnapped the man and beat his ass, than too a catchy music number showed him the pictures of these actions after math. The joker is one of the most evil characters in fiction.

Perhaps that was the point. The prologue was like a a bad comedian on the stage. In time when you do not expect anything to happen. But then. BAM! The funniest and greatest act you've seen all night happens. Perhaps that was why this padding was there. to emulate the killing joke further.
it did add to batman's motivation and made it more apparent how much resolve it took for him to not enter the abyss. In the overall theme it did add but wasnt necessary. It did also need to make a reletively short story line into a full length feature.
Anyone else thinks the Joker sings like a Disney villain here? I was totally getting a "Poor Unfortunate Souls" vibe from this... and it's fucking PERFECT for a villain of such notorious caliber as the Joker.
Because we're all secretly just as insane as the joker and all it takes is one bad day to push us to this point, it's not catchy, you're coming to grips with reality, and that's no fun, so just keep listening on repeat until the lines become blurry again.
I love that he’s singing like it’s one of his happiest moment in his live but Gordon on the other hand is having one if not the worst moment in his life

I thought The Killing Joke was fine and I do agree that this is the best part of the movie itself, tho' not to sound sensitive and not that I'm complaining or anything since I also was aware that it also happened in the comic too as I've also seen messed up stuff like that in other scary movies as well, but when that one part of this scene while the song plays is where the screens of Joker singing inside the ride change to photos of Barbara as I also first watched this scene as a pre-teen? again, I'm not complaining but I always thought that part of the song in both this movie and comic were kinda shocking imo.
The Joker is not insane. The Joker represents the conscious detachment from sanity in order to spare yourself the pain of understanding your own existence. Batman is someone who struggles pointlessly against existence. Joker is someone who surrenders to it.
"Mister, life is swell in a padded cell It'll chase those blues away! You can trade your gloom for a rubber room And injections twice a day!" Quality lyrics right there.

The first half of the movie may have had it's shortcomings, but the second half more than made up for it.
Maybe it would have less shortcomings if the first half was an animated adaptation of Ladies' Night.
Matteso586 I don't think a batgirl prologue was a bad idea. It just wasn't handled the right way.
I think Bruce would disagree. It also makes me want to make a special cut of the 'sex' scene where right after it cuts away, the scene skips to when she's in the hospital and the doctor tells Batman she'll never walk again.
+Garrett White 👏👏 excellent 🍻 🍦 🍔 🍪🏆.
also batman has his short cuming in the 1st half , if you know what i mean
Hamill's still got it, he pulled this scene off *PERFECTLY*!
if this offended you and makes you uncomfortable then you know then that this scene did its job
Best Joker song ever. Joker was a role Mark Hamill was BORN to play.
just got out of the theater, I loved the movie, the song was just great, it's like should I laugh or be scared
Me too!
I LOVED IT
Same here, that movie was great :)
Disturbing and faithful, I enjoyed every minute of this chilling yet great adaptation of a legendary story
Superman12345414 YES! GREAT EXPLANATION! Thank you! That's exactly how I felt!
Mark Hamill.... two extremely iconic characters in one person.
This is nothing like it sounded in my head... it's so much better.
The joker isn't just insane, he's a mad genius.
I love that this scene have every line from the comic and made it into a song. I love it!
I mean, he was obviously singing in the comic . . .
Don't get eveeeeeeen get maaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddd! YES! love that Joker!
I was looking forward to this the whole movie
In the words of Deadpool 'Stupid! Worth it.'
I'm just amazed at how well they were able to make the song work.
I know when I read the book I had no idea how to sing it or go with a rythm
+nerdsman567 What melody did Alan Moore have in mind?
Jake Rutigliano I have no idea. XD
That’s why we love him!❤️
Meh, sexual assault isn’t the jokers MO, he more likely did it for the trauma factor
Lyrics:
When the world is full of care
And every headline screams dispare
When all is rape, starvation, war
And life is vile
(Laugh)
Theres a simple thing i do
That i shall pass along to you
That all ways guaranteed to make me smile
(Joker: YES!)
I go...looney
As a light bulb battered bug
Simply looney
Sometimes for foam and chew the rug
Mister life is swell in a padded cell
It'll chace those blues away
You can trade your gloom for a rubber room
And injections twice a day
Just go looney like a acid casualty
Or a moonie or a preacher on Tv
(Laughs)
When the human race wears an anxious face
When the bomb hangs overhead
When you're kids turns blue it wont worry you
You can smile and nod instead
When your looney
Then you just dont give a fig
Mans so puny and the universe so big
If you're hurt inside and get certified
And if life should treat you bad
Dont get even get mad! NUTS!
The first part of the movie wasn't needed....at all
Yeah It felt forced and the sex scene with Batman and Batgirl felt wrong after the prologue it was just kick ass.
It did also need to make a reletively short story line into a full length feature.
i thought it was ok, who gives a fuck.
and I'm a huge bats fan.
Anyone else thinks the Joker sings like a Disney villain here? I was totally getting a "Poor Unfortunate Souls" vibe from this... and it's fucking PERFECT for a villain of such notorious caliber as the Joker.
Joker 2 the musical!?
I remember seeing some idiot on facebook whine about this movie because Joker was singing. It's like people don't know who his character really is
Barbara definitely got chills downs her spine during the photoshoot... Oh, wait! She can't!
LMAO 🤣 it’s funny but it’s not
why is this actually so catchy ?? 💜
Because we're all secretly just as insane as the joker and all it takes is one bad day to push us to this point, it's not catchy, you're coming to grips with reality, and that's no fun, so just keep listening on repeat until the lines become blurry again.
@@ITLSupress that’s bullshit, it’s just a catchy song 🤣 stop trying to make it into something it’s not
@@babydollmaddy Calm down it was joke. Geez blowing more punchlines than the Joker over here.
Mark hamil
Just mark hamil
@@babydollmaddy its all funny till you seen humanity from every persictive and still this prestictive crisis will not end lol
I love that he’s singing like it’s one of his happiest moment in his live but Gordon on the other hand is having one if not the worst moment in his life
This is almost as good as his Can't Stop Laughing single in Batman: Arkham Knight.
Can’t stop laughing is funny and catchy, while this is disturbing and catchy. But I still like can’t stop laughing more
Yeah cause of joker's energy
Who knew the Joker could sing?
More importantly who knew Mark Hamel could sing?
Kevin Conroy can also sing as well
Play Arkham Knight, that’ll show you.
Listen to Joker's only you from Arkham city
Plus the classic Jingle bells, Batman smells. I already knew
I knew since Arkham Knight.
We really boutta get this in joker 2
I love Mark Hamill's performance of The Joker so much ! :D He simply nails the laugh and the character of the Joker :)
To the people who think a joker musical wouldn’t work, need to watch this.
Joker has some great songs , this , jingle bells batman smells, look who's laughing now, only you , there was also a song from Joker in Batman Brave and the bold when he had powers ...
Word is going around now that Joker 2 (the one with Joaquin Phoenix) could be a musical. Hopefully the filmmakers take a look at this musical number for inspiration!
God I would hate that so much💀
“If you hurt inside get certified and if life should treat you bad don’t get even get mad”
This hits differently in 2020
When the human race wears an anxious face
If I ever meet Mark Hamill, I'm going to ask him to sing this song.
when you're born in this world, you're given a ticket to the freak show. When you are born in America(Gotham), you're given a front row seat.
George carlin.
George Carlin actually said that about Gotham City?! o.o
CatMaster90001 no it was a comparison
Jake Tryon Ohh, I see... If only, right?
StygianTraveler141 I don't see what the Grateful Dead has to do with the Riddler... and the quote you applied to Killer Croc doesn't really make sense. :P
CatMaster90001 It's not the shirt that matters, it's the Fuck You hat xD . And that quote fits Killer Croc perfectly: He's just as crude as a rock.
Only Mark Hamill could make a song about insanity and depravity so catchy.
I don't know how Mark manages to hold the Joker's voice whenever he sings, and frankly I don't care, cause this guy is a god among men.
*Homework In a nutshell*
Joker singing= a Homework
The freaks dancing= More homeworks
Gordon= Me
Barbara= My precious time about relaxing and having fun
Why did this make me laugh
@@calibrijones idk
While also getting raped.
I love Jim Gordon the mad lad endures this and is still sane what a lad
This song is perfect for 2020.
The Joker is the best villain ever! A great psychopath who has a weird sense of humour instead of guilt.
Legend says one day.
a man will be born that can succeed Mark.
But that man has yet to exist.
Let's be honest. Regardless of how you feel about this adaptation of The Killing Joke, this is probably the best thing to come out of it.
@@kinnikuman-devilman_fan_2002nah, I see what you mean.
We all can go insane for does one bad day.
Joker after torturing a random dude on the street for accidently getting his shoes messy:
Gotta love the guy tho
The Joker is not insane.
The Joker represents the conscious detachment from sanity in order to spare yourself the pain of understanding your own existence.
Batman is someone who struggles pointlessly against existence.
Joker is someone who surrenders to it.
@@WyattPriceTV I never said the struggle wasn't worth it.
Cringelord
Um...ok....I think he's just a killer clown.
@@alanoshea2159 If thats all you see then thats all you see.
"Mister, life is swell in a padded cell

Quality lyrics right there.
This should actually be a ride in SIX FLAGS
yes
Given the recent news on what they're producing Joker 2 as, I can only assume that not only do too many of The Joker's fans take this number to heart, so do too many of his writers.
