This is what a sitting minister of Maldives, had to say about our Indian Prime Minister. But what exactly happened?
What triggered them to make such a derogatory comment about one of the most powerful leaders in the world?
For those who wish to embrace the adventurer in them, Lakshadweep has to be on your list.
With this caption, PM Modi posted few pictures of him being in the beaches of Lakshadweep and the hatred started pouring in. But why did a social media post from the Prime Minister of India with the intention of promoting Indian tourism, triggered the people of Maldives? Neither the Prime Minister of India nor any other Indian officials made any kind of reference to Maldives.
All they did was to promote the tourism in Lakshadweep, which is an integral part of India. So where is this hatred, actually coming from?

Have waited for yet another amazing video eagerly. Maldives fails to recognise the importance of India in it's infrastructure. Even I planned a vacation to Maldives to celebrate New year, but we ended up cancelling it, and going to Majuli island in india.

As a Maldivian I just want to state that we Maldivians are most grateful to India. Its just some irresponsible and young people were given the role of state minister and they made such comments which we all oppose. We are deeply apologetic on their behalf. We welcome all Indians to The Maldives and we are so so so grateful to India for all the help we get. The citizens of Maldives are grateful for India for many things, even though certain parties and corrupt politicans are not. Just wanted to make things clear. Even Indian workers in Maldives know this reality and they are also saddened by how things are going. Hope everything works out again…

Hey Keerthi I’m Maldivian & I’ve been following you for a long time now cuz you always post such informative videos… I loved this video as well but I’m sad that you didn’t post any of the comments thousands of Maldivians posted defending India… I believe every country have their own share of stupid people.. but please know that majority of Maldivians love india and all that you’ve done for us.. I also voted for the current government because corruption was at an all time high and so was the inflation, not because I shared anti-India sentiments. I’m ashamed our government hired such incompetent deputies… we have been calling for their arrests even.

If celebrities hadn't joined the group criticizing Maldives in X platform, they would've failed the "peer pressure" and left out in turn affecting their career. Moreover, it is not at all a burden for celebrities if they boycott Maldives. Everyone knows this but is reluctant to say it: The Maldives is a Muslim-run country, and like the media in the West, is wary of the BJP Government which appears to them "Hindu Nationalist." Whereas the truth is that India is waking up and firmly discarding all remnants of colonialism. The very constitution of India is protective of the rights of Muslims, Christians and other "minority" religions while giving zero protection for Hindus and Hindu Dévasthanams (Temples). Hindus are sick and tired of this, and this is what the BJP is working to correct. That is all.
