How to connect ANY Zigbee / Z-Wave device with Homey

  • You can add any Zigbee &/or Z-Wave device to Homey. It's not the most user-friendly experience, and you'll need to refer to the manufacturers 'pairing instructions', but it does offer basic controls like on/off, dim-level, & color settings, along with a few simple Flow cards.
It's not our preferred or recommended way of adding a device to Homey, but sometimes there's just no alternative. With this video, you'll learn how you can connect any Zigbee or Z-wave device to Homey.
Note - Devices that send detailed information, like Sensors, can be connected, but (most likely) you won't receive any information from them. For these devices, a Homey App is required. (www.homey.app/apps)

I really can not wait for a day when you guys include general Z-wave templates for all basic devices. All Z-Wave door sensors use the same commands. Same goes for dimmers, motion sensors... Here you are missing out really, having only basic on/off commands supported without app is really bad.

Hey HomeSystem.sk thanks for the suggestion. In most cases a Homey App facilitates this, but indeed in order to support 'all' devices this would be a great addition.

@@homey :) It definitelly would. There are always some special devices that is easy to understand, that are not supported by default. But you know, z-Wave dimmer is just a z-wave dimmer, no matter the brand. You guys figured this out perfectly good with Zigbee lights. So lets do it for all basic devices :)

Hello...Loving the product. However, ran into an issue. Unable to find the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 and the The Aqara Hub M2 within the aqara app . Does Homey Pro (2023) supports either one of these new devices? If so, what group within the Aqara app can I find them in? One last question while I have your attention, Does Homey Pro (2023) support the ecobee New Smart Thermostat version 3 or 4? Thank you and keep up the good work.

I am looking to buy a few wall panel switches with 4 buttons, each having single, double and long press functions: 12 control functions. Seems like great devices but not (yet) supported in Homey nor has it a zigbee2mqqt integration. Would your demonstrated way allow to identify and use all 12 options to switch devices or start scenes?

Hey Thieu, I don't think that all the button presses of the panel switch will be made available if paired as a basic device driver. You could take a look at the Aeotec Wallmote Quad, these are quite nice and usable 4 button wall switches, and there's a dedicated Homey App for these → homey.app/a/com.aeotec/

    Hi
I have tried several times to add a Nedis Zigbee Motion Sensor (PIR), both as a Tuya Zigbee and as a Homey Zigbee device, but with no luck. In every case (4 different Tuya sensors) it installs as Basic Zigbee device, with only an on/off switch, which of course is not supported. What do I do (wrong)?

Hey Kharmastreams, there are a few Telldus Apps for Homey, but none of them are 'verified partner apps'. One of the best ways to improve an integration is to reach out to the device's brand, Telldus, and push them to create a better integration with Homey. This also helps when we discuss verified integrations with these brands. Don't underestimate consumer push! 😉
