I would love to see a video on Blade someday, he's my favourite character in the game by far and I think he's incredibly well designed as a character! As someone who really liked Aventurine ever since his design was first leaked, I'm glad people are appreciating him so much, this was a really fun watch. If you're curious about more french historical references in his design, I highly recommend looking up "The red and the black" by Stendhal, which is a French book written in the 1830s that is referenced in his technique. (called the red or the black) It's a really good book imo, a very poignant critique on French society after the French Revolution and the hypocrisy a lower class man experiences when he ends up in the higher class, which really reminds me of Aventurines "free" life in the IPC. You don't actually have to read, I just recommend looking up some summarys and analysis' of the book, because the main character, Julien Sorel, definitely inspired Aventurine a little a bit (All the roulettes he plays on are red and black after all, and I feel like the roulettes kind of represent his life), even though their mindset is very different. Fun fact, all of Aventurines eidolons except one reference some kind of sociological concept or a unsolvable dilemma, I also recommend looking all of them up because they also connect highly to his character. Sorry for the long paragraph lol, I just like Aventurine a lot

Yesssss I have been adoring them so much. Mostly hyped for Firefly. Though the relationship of Sunday, Robin and the Harmony is the one I am most intrigued and excited for !
I'm kind of irritated by the fact that his treatment was so poorly received when 2.0 dropped. I don't get how he just gets blatantly disregarded as a good character simply because he was portrayed to be laid-back and cheeky. Maybe it's the connection with the IPC? Maybe. But we've already been shown that the 10 Stonehearts are all someone who in one way shape or form got subjected/coerced into joining the IPC because of their planet's, or their own living situation. It doesn't help the fact that Black Swan gets so much love and attention (well, maybe because of her aesthetics) YET displays an air of mystery and distrust. She was portrayed more of a third party, a witness to the events happening in the dreamscape. She hides multiple things from us because her motives are not as clear cut as it can be (it has been proven since she HAS made dealings with other people behind our backs). She has the ability to manipulate memories of other people yet somehow the community sees her as trustworthy? Are they not concerned that maybe she's manipulating how we perceive current events in the story? The implications of being a member of the Garden of Recollection being that they have records upon records of what happened throughout history so they must have SOME sort of info on us as well as March 7th.
Ikr, it sucks people outright disregarded Aventurine as a bad character from the first impresion. Even though he had the sickest line deliveries when we were in the hotel rooms. Where he says he has an offer, one we can't refuse. Like that dialogue is sick and sets him up as a morally grey character, in the moment, who is offering to aid us. I hate that at times it feels like it is bad influence from community members that messes up characters. In 2.0 he was not written to be liked. People just go and gate without taking into account that he is made to be hated in that moment, but he is complex if you start looking more into him. And because of that he was beautifully designed for both 2.0 and enhanced further in 2.1 And yesssss literally that is my same thought. I am of the idea I am inclined to believe Black Swan, but how do I know she hasn't altered the way we perceive things to us. She did it for the Hotel staff, Sparkle and Sampo, plus being a member of the Garden of Recollection does imply she should be able to help us uncover March 7th's past in more detail because they are a member. Also there is the fact she mentions she can stay hidden and follow us along unless she choses to reveal herself so that is also majorly concerning on top of the deal she made with boothill and how she was able to contact Constance's memories

The Myriad Celestia 2 of them that feature her paint her in a positive and more welcoming light. Aventurine starts off as sort of this Karen like entity causing trouble and berating our crew with sarcasm so it immediately puts a hostile light on him. The Family which we start off neutral with confiscate his items which puts even more suspicion and then his talk with Ratio outright makes you wary as they obviously have a plan going. We can all say hindsight right now because 2.1 launched but everything we are given in 2.0 is to make us wary of Aventurine.
@@Delkes66 It was more of the approach that people had that they said they hated and despised how sleazy he is. Their writting was amazing. As you said he came off as snobby and a Karen and that makes sense for the hatred. He was a character that you love to hate and want his downfall, but it is these negative traits that you make you like how well written he is. And yeah all of this made the gut punch that much stronger on people. But yeah, people sympathized with him having been a slave, though it felt like many narrowed down on the negative a bit too much more than anything Also I never had fully be wary for him because he was working with Ratio. And it is a lot bias on my end. In Dr Ratio I trusted since he helped out before even if he too was sneaky and hates lying so I was gonna hope on their schemes. And yeah Black Swan has always been portrayed positively for the most part
@@Delkes66 Personally Aventurine just seemed like a narcissist to me which made me dislike him (with the manipulation etc serving that purpose), but I also felt like he'd have a basic motivation and boy was I wrong about the basic part Black swan was never trustworthy to me, imo her warm persona and actions are completely incongruent, though aventurine did seem as if he was more nefarious than her at the start I'd argue she's probably one of the least trustworthy characters so far, straight up there with gallagher and sunday - though gallagher only joined that rating for me when he said he was 13

another thing about his outfit: you already mentioned that he dresses like this to mask his real emotions. In one of the Animated Shorts we are able to see the arm of his former 'master', someone who is referred to as "???" when his lines are repeated in the nihility dimension. He had a similar watch to the one Aventurine has now. And the fraud case, that was the first part of Aventurines bet with the IPC, is referred to as "Aventurine case" in the radio before the cutscene with Jade, even though he was still a slave at the time. So there is the theory of his 'master' being the former Aventurine Stoneheart, making him dressing like him and emulating him when tasked with choosing clothes by Jade even more depressing. It's also an interesting parallel to Arlecchino, who also killed a Harbinger and then was shackled again by replacing them. I'd like to add that those two have a lot in common in general, though that could just be Hoyoverse accidentally using similar storylines. anyway, nice video :)

The parallel and depth for it is really cool for that theory and it makes it even more depressing in how he still has become a prisoner and has no freedom of his own as he has to obey what the norms of the stonehearts and Jade's are. I do like the parallel to Arlecchino honestly. Even if they have a lot in common the way they have been using their plots to display different narratives is something I do adore and I am very happy with
I for sure don't think he was a stoneheart, I know he's lucky but how would it be possible for this starved slave teenager to kill one of the 10 stonehearts with nothing but chains.
I'm just speculating but I don't think Dr. Ratio isn't remorseful for deceiving aventurine but instead deceiving Sunday (or maybe both). He knows the corner stone is Jade, and is also have ACCESS in opening a case for storing a cornerstone (maybe its just a normal case but only higher ups can open it). I'm really looking forward to them meeting up and or have Dr. Ratio explain what dormancy in Penacony is, but if y'all already know, I would like to know it as well!
my favorite part about aventurine is that his plan was absolutely amazingly crafted. someone in the game mentioned (pretty sure ratio but not 100% sure) that aventurine is sus and he basically makes it known that he's about to scam someone, as a warning. he does not pretend to be what he's not and if people fall to his tricks even after his little warnings, that's on them. and this mentality is prevalent throughout all of penacony. and despite him being suspicious, every single person fell for his plan, alloting it to work perfectly. and i think the best part of this was the POV switch mechanic. I genuinely belive they started this because they couldn't find a way to include trailblazer which makes perfect sense because for a secretive man like Aventurine, why the hell would he tell us anything? The only person he could possibly confide in were either Topaz (his IPC co-lead partner for this mission) or Dr. Ratio (his assigned partner for the penacony mission aka ipc x intelligensia collab), and it was mostly just him and Ratio because Topaz was busy in reality and not inside the dreamscape itself. This whole plan wouldn't have worked if we were on Aventurine's side. He needed trailblazer at the exact right moment and not a moment before or after. this is my favorite trailblaze mission and their best written so far. which isn't much because the game is still new, but it's has amazing writing, i hope they keep it up. and i hope it only get better and we get more complex characters in the future
He did an amazing job with it. I geniunely adore how every single piece of the puzzle landed so well together and the fact he on top of it all got saved by Argenti somehow. I believe it was either Welt or Dr Ratio that said that yes. Him not pretending makes it that much better when he pulls off his plans. The POV switch is the best thing they could have added yesss. I adore so freaking much. And I hope it can lead to maybe some bits of story where we can have agency in. Such as them releasing 2 new boss fights. And in the dialogue letting us choose one side and that would be the boss for that specific segment and such. And then lead the plot to them having to work together, but still, something cool to just experience like that would be awesome. They have been killing it with every new addition to the game. Especially the latest Trailer with the Stonehearts being revealed further and expanded upon
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t only the Katicans and Avgin Sigonians killed? Other Sigonians clans must have survived since they got a sit in the IPC government after the Katican and Avgin genocide. Also many people recognizing Aventurine racial traits and Sigonians having the reputation for being schemers when Avgins and Katicans already were exterminated before gaining interstellar travel.
